Great course hidden in a suburb`
A course that plays long with some difficulty and is a good value. no one is ever there are it rarely backs up even on weekends, its location is semi-remote and pretty hidden which accounts for this
rate quoted was not honored.
I booked this course for $47.00/person Walking..... Upon check in, the staff stated that walking was not permitted to maintain pace of game. Although it was booked for walking, we had to rent carts. Instead of $47.00/person, we paid $65.00/person due to the cart price. They claimed the normal price of playing and riding was $88.00/person on weekends, but would honor our quoted rate, but had to charge for carts. As we played, the course was not packed; no somes in front nor back; therefore I don't understand their claim of maintaining pace of the game nonsense. We were disappointed with the management of the reservation, and probably will not play this course again......
Great staff
Couldn't make tee time. Staff still worked group in on a busy weekend afternoon without too much delay.
Partial green aerations, which is typical for this time of year. Most pin locations kept away from aerated portions - huge plus.
Average and Pricey
Course conditions were OK considering we are only a few weeks into the season. I doubt I will be back once they raise the rates for the regular season. Paying over $60 to walk is too much. This course is just a notch above the county courses but you'll pay twice as much.
Emerson
Course was ok. Greens had fertilizer which got sand all over the ball. Fairways in good shape. Trees need to be trimmed and cut back a bit.
It was ok
It was just ok, grass wasn't in great condition but that's early April golf in NJ.
Staff couldn't have been any nicer though, older gentleman was so nice.
it's very playable and has a couple of great long par threes!!!!!!
Tee'd off at 8:57am Dec. 25th 2014 on Emerson golf club. Its Great course and facility. We really enjoy the course layout. it's very playable and has a couple of great long par threes. Staff was friendly and professional. They have a restaurant, we had a hot dog it was delicious. On Christmas day I saw over hundreds of people in the course lol the weather was very warm. We Will definitely play again many times per season. by the way To all, please learn to repair your ball mark on the greens, it makes it better for everyone.
finally they started to care about the course.
the course used to be pretty bad in condition for a while... but I was really surprised when I played here two weeks ago. They did amazing job and still doing it on the green. sands are much better and overall the course looks totally different now. worth the money definately
Awesome Course
I liked the layout of this course. It had wonderful open wide fairways and beautiful views.
You get what you pay for
The sand traps are horrible and warrant a drop instead of risking a broken wedge. No water control at all, course was soaking wet. The sprinklers were on when we first showed and it had rained the previous night. It is a average course with an average price. You get what you pay for but if the traps were a little more cared for I would play this course a lot more.
Good value, but not in ideal shape
Overall, this course is a good value. It's nice and flexible too with tee times. You can usually get on at a time of your choice, which is rare for Bergen County. Honestly, the holes are nice and fairly challenging, but the upkeep lacks a bit and there's nothing overly special about any of the holes in particular. This course used to be excellent about 10 years back, but it has dropped off a bit. But the trade off is that you can always get on. A lot of golf snobs would never play this course, but for me - a very casual 5-10 time per year player - it's pretty ideal. I would definitely recommend this course to my friends, but I would make sure to tell a serious golfer that the upkeep is not 100% golf "proper".
great time and good value
Played as a threesome. Pace of play was good course conditions were overall pretty good this late in the season. Course is long but easily walkable. Rangers very helpful. Would definitely return
Getting better
Condition of course is a marked improvement on prior years, however some tee boxes do still need attention as does the pruning of certain large trees that are beginning to ruin already challenging holes. The course needs to improve the range balls and range pricing. For the cost, a handful of stuff they found on the course isn't acceptable. Overall, location and accessibility good.
I would like to play it a year from now. I was in Manhattan and decided I wanted to go play softball discourse on golf now said it was 33 minutes from
I was in Manhattan, I saw the course was 33 minutes from the city. When I drove up, I saw was a building that looked disheveled, not in disrepair but they could've used the grounds being cleaned and cleared, Weeding things like that. I thought the staff was SUPER friendly, nice and engaging . But my issue would have been with the condition of the golf course, you really couldn't clearly define the fairway and rough, greens were decent. What you would get if you played $20 public course in a old suburban area. what I felt 50 Dollars Was Way overpriced. It's more like a $40 golf course. Realistically if this golf course was not close to close to New York it will probably be $25 a round without golf now. That is only because aesthetically it is not a visual golf course. It's a long golf course. But your barll does not give a big bounce in the fairway. Ball rolls 5 to 10 yards if you're in a good Fairway, no role if you're in a bad Fairway.
I would like to play it again and maybe a year and a half. To give some time or two summer cycles and see what I can do with it but overall it's really only a $25 value course.
Reasonable Pace of Play
The gold course is frequently patrolled by friendly marshals who maintain a steady pace of play. The greens, although recently aerated, were in good shape. Fairway conditions were average. Many of the traps could use some updating. The tee markers only gave you half the space in the tee box limiting options. Several long par 4's will test your game.
Forgiving course
Forgiving course for a beginner. Not too many ways to lose your ball. I've played the course a handful of times this summer and generally enjoy my round. Starter and cart girl are very friendly.
This last round, the greens were brutal due to the aeration. I will definitely be waiting a couple weeks to play again.
Course Review
Course is in decent shape.
They were aerating the back nine. Had to play front twice. Golf Now should be aware of this by the course. Cashier was indifferent about it when I mentioned it.
The restaurant was not ready with food when making the turn.. at 11:30!
