Not worth the money
Strange, this "could" be a solid golf course, but the management doesn't care, the groundskeepers don't care or management tells them not to care. Greens with weeds in the center, fairways with large areas of weeds right in the middle of the fairway. The general pervasive attitude is "we really don't care" and it shows, or they would invest money and do things to make it better. Not worth more than the $50 we paid and realistically not even worth that
Emerson GC
Nice location but playing any course in mid-august you expect some holes to be in rougher shape. That was the case here and a lot of greens were not trimmed due to rain earlier in the week. Not a bad value but not my first choice.
Emerson on a summer Friday
Played with a friend. Found the course to be in good shape. Fairways green, first rough mowed.
Tee boxes in good shape and greens ran true.
Enjoyed playing, Rangers were on hand to keep the round moving.
Overall good value and would play again.
This course is value to play
This course is awesome! value to play and nice conditions!
Much improved, but still not the best value
A few notes on Emerson:
-The course condition used to be horrible (choppy greens, uneven fairways, rough that resembles the backyard of an abandoned building) but it's much better now. Still some work to be done!
-Don't play on Tuesday afternoons, unless you want to be stuck behind a camp on one nine and a league on the other.
-It's not a stylish or aesthetically appealing course, but in north NJ where prices are ridiculous and the good courses are far away, it does the job.
So welcoming!
Great time playing this course.
Tee time adhered to. The staff was wonderful ,especially helping with carts and bags. They went above and beyond!
Disappointed
Book for 18, didn't let us know we have to play the front nine twice.
Narrow Fairways hit them straight!
Nice course but tight. condition was ok. It is very easy to mistake what hole your on, fairways are very narrow! When we played it was slow going but it was because of beginners in front of us
Good course for high handicap golfers.
Good pace of play for a public course. Some of the tee boxes and bunkers needed maintenance but the greens were all well kept.
emerson
Course only allowed to check in 15 minutes prior to play. From back tees very tight on some holes....one hole was impossible to play from unless you could slice around trees in front of tee box. They need to do some pruning. Greens a little slow, but nice. Fairways had some weeds in places. For $25 it was worth it, but at full price I would rather play elsewhere
Good course
Played my round in 4 hours including some waiting in front 9, so this was perfect pace on a Sunday. Well maintained greens, cleancut roughs, and fairways. Very long. Will play again.
family day
took my brother and my godson out on a course for the first time. lots of laughs had a great time
Not worth it
The price was not worth the condition of the course and club.
Average
The course is average but there are some bad tee boxes and greens. Some of the fairways are tight and wet for some reason even on a dry day.
Value for money if you can get a deal otherwise not worth the price
Too nice for work
Last second change of plans, went out at 9:30, done before 1pm. Course was in great shape fairways, greens well manicured. Did not hit any bunkers, but they looked in good shape. Course was playing long.
tight course
Not a very long course but don't let that fool you. Every green guarded by bunkers. Fairways are very tight on some holes with OB right next to fairway. Must control your shots or you will lose ALOT of balls.
Cnvenience equals value
I played on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Our tee time was scheduled a few groups after an outing had started. The Ranger and other groups let us go first since there were only 2 of us. The course was in great shape and well maintained. It took us 8 holes to catch up to the outing, but then only had to wait on 1 hole.
Many complain about the price of this course. I have played several county courses as well as other local public courses. I find the people at Emerson to be polite and professional. I find the course is usually well maintained. I do not have to wait at every hole and can finish a round in under 4 hours. To me, that is worth a few extra dollars. I will be back again.
Fun times!
Great course with some long, challenging holes and nice variety. Was surprised with many of the reviews being so negative, as I had a great experience - very friendly staff, decent pace of play, and the course was in excellent condition throughout (greens maybe were a bit overwatered in the early morning but as soon as the sun dried them out more, they got quite firm and fast).
Emerson
Pace of play could use an improvement but starter and rangers know that and do all they can to move it along. A great group of guys, actually. Very helpful. Course in good shape, I think the back 9 is better than the front.
