Terrible staff
Scam artist owner and the staff is very not friendly which is ironic for the name of the course. Unless it is in your backyard there are 100 other places on the east side I’d rather golf.
5.5 hour round!
Waited 30 minutes past tee time for a cart. Not enough carts.
Course was jammed.
5.5 hour round!
3 hours for 9 holes
If I could give zero stars, I would. The course conditions are absolutely atrocious—fairways and greens are so hard they might as well be concrete. Every shot feels like you’re playing off a parking lot.
The pace of play is beyond unacceptable. Groups were taking an average of 20 minutes per hole, and the rangers—whose job it is to keep things moving—were sitting around on their phones doing nothing about it. After three hours of slogging through just the front nine, we realized there was no way we could commit another three hours to finish the back nine.
When we politely asked for a refund for the unused nine holes, we were met with a flat-out refusal. No empathy, no attempt at customer service—just a hard “no.” It’s insulting to pay good money for what turned into one of the most miserable golf experiences I’ve ever had.
Save your time, money, and sanity. There are plenty of courses in the area that care about conditions, pace of play, and treating their guests with basic respect. This place clearly doesn’t.
Course was fine, other factors made it less than stellar.
Booked the tee time, unknowingly was playing a couple of groups behind a school tournament. Pace was slow but fine. I couldn't warm up at the range because they didn't have enough balls shagged to dispense them. Annoying, but fine. When I went to tee off on one, the starter had left to take care of some other things, and after I teed my ball up, spectators for the high school match rolled up in carts to watch the kids on nine. Totally acceptable, except they got out of their carts to watch and decided standing quite literally one foot from my tee'd up ball was okay. I had to ask them to move, and tee'd off with their cart 4 feet behind me. Right in front of the prop shop and not getting any intervention there was wild to me. A couple of the tee boxes were more sand than grass. Not what I would expect from a course I thought was very nice for the area.
Nice Country Course
If you don't require a country club-like course and want to get out and play golf on an interesting if not meticulously maintained course, you'll likely like Friendly Meadow. Every hole was different and interesting. Lots of water and challenging features. The operation seems very well run and the staff is extraordinarily friendly.
Beat Up Course
6:30 Saturday tee, front nine in 2 hours. Back nine took 3 hours because they sent an outing off in front of us.
Course layout is good and it’s challenging but very beat up and some areas not maintained.
$55 for a course in this condition is a bit steep but it was our only option on a Saturday morning
Fun, beautiful and challenging
The staff were great. The course was still wet fro earlier heavy rains, but playable. Challenges your skills but doesn't threaten you. The overall landscaping was beautiful. My wife was extremely impressed by the beauty and character of the course.
Confused-Unorganized!
I was checking in and was asked to see my confirmation. I never was asked this before.Went to my car to retrieve it. Very unorganized. I showed them my confirmation and license/credit card.
Second, while following the 6 groups in front of us who were taking forever-3 hours for 9 holes and playing some games that they had to write down everything-time. The Starter drives out to our group and the group behind us and tells up to pick up the pace!! We were waiting on every tee box at least 20 minutes for the groups ahead. Get your act together Friendly Meadows!
Fairways awful
Fairways were in terrible shape. Dead trees and branches on several holes. Trees hanging over the fairways on several holes blocking you from going to the flag. Not a fun course.
