slow pace unfriendly at times
Pace was slow because there were plenty of slow/beginner players on a hot day. I understand that this happens frequently on this course especially on weekends and holidays. But to have the ranger rush you constantly when it's backed up is absurd. We just end up rushing and waiting on the tee box 10+ minutes each hole.
Wet
The course was pretty , but very, very wet. A lot of standing water. A lot of geese poo.

cold but playable
early golf in the NE is always fun. It was cold windy and cloudy but the course was in good shape especially the greens for this time of year.

Good public county course
Didn’t have high expectations, but the course was actually pretty decent. Had a nice looking clean clubhouse with gas carts available (90 degree) and only couple holes that were cart path only. Gas carts had to be returned by 6pm for anyone looking to tee off later in the afternoon. Nice putting area and looks like the bar/restaurant was also open.
The course itself was in good shape from tee box to green. Wide fairways and very golfer friendly roughs. I Will definitely play again.

Valley Brook was OK, nothing special. The course upkeep was acceptable. There is no pro shop to speak of and I was quite disappointed that I could not buy a glove for the round. staff was friendly.

Course needs work
I enjoyed my round at Valley Brook. However, this course needs a lot of work. Many of the holes are in bad shape and there is goose poop everywhere. I’ve never seen so many geese on a golf course. Bergen county golf needs to step it up.

What's the Rush?
I'm all for keeping pace of play, but we did a 4 hour round and half way were needled by "marshalls" to step it up. We were riding on a "cart path only" day and that adds more time to set up shots. But we were keeping a good pace. Not only did the marshall give us a warning, but they kept circling around us like a spy. I think his wife was in the 4some behind us.
That was a bunch of bull
Also, get rid of the geese! About half the holes had geese all over the fairways and the last 2 greens were covered in geese droppings

Avoid It
Played Valley Brook this morning and it was littered with geese and goose poop. Course was also soaking wet despite it not raining the night prior. Maintenance staff cut holes at an angle and the pace at 6:30am was about 4.5 hours. Total joke of a course and zero reason to go here with better options right up the road. Terrible experience.

Absolute Mess
It’s a shame because the course layout could be a huge selling point, however, the course conditions are abysmal. For a county course there is absolutely no effort going into maintaining a playable track. Staff is grumpy and not helpful at all.

Poor condition
It just happened that I played my first gold among tribes of geese and deers. The coarse is filled with geese poop, and your balls will catch one for sure! You are hoping not to kill an animal with every shot.
I gave my equipment good wash after that! Hole 10 will require you to drive over 220 yard or risk loosing a ball for sure. Navigation through the coarse is tricky but doable. The staff is very friendly which is the biggest plus.
End result, no.. I ain’t going back
