My Go To Course For A Quick 9 Holes
Old tappan is my go to for a quick 9 holes during the week. I’ve played several times this year and will continue to book here. I walk when I play to get my steps in. Except for the #6 par 3 (very steep up hill) the layout serves for a good walk. The pace yesterday was very good and the tavern is a good place to unwind with a cold one after the round. There’s also a nice patio overlooking the practice putting green which is very relaxing. Overall, Old Tappan delivers a pleasant golf experience round after round.
Great course!
It’s a private country club, uniquely having 9 holes, and the field care level seemed to meet that expectation. The field condition was the better than most others around this neighborhood (Bergen & Rockland). The only conplaint I had was that the greens were slightly rough. The bunkers had nice soft sand. Overall, it’s a well managed field. I wished they extended the design into a full 18 hole course.
Great day of Golf
The was in good shape and the entire ws staff ws friendly and pleasant.
Bad for solos, bad for beginners, not sure who it’s for
Course is a pretty basic, poor quality 9 hole course which would be maybe a $45 value but they charge $65. For a quick 9, the course itself would be fine. Problem comes to the staff, they have the attitude of a $350 nice golf course. Poor random twosome I got paired with were doing one of their first rounds, a bit slower than I would have liked but we all remember our first rounds, this is a hard game. Also, I wouldn’t expect much else from a crappy 9 hole course that has availability night before. Staff pushed them every other hole to speed up because regulars were behind and trying to speed run the course. We finished in 2:15, not fast, but not absurd.
The course itself is good for beginners, but the staff is horrific. Give golfers a bad name. They also have a strange policy that they don’t allow twosomes to go out on the weekend. So if you’re a solo and book a tee time, they can revoke your tee time and refund you right before you tee off.
Bad for solos, bad for new golfers, not long or challenging enough for serious golfers. Not sure who this is really for. Seems like there’s a small group of regular golfers who the toxic staff cater to.
This was my first and last time going. County courses are nicer than this place. A par three course would be more enjoyable. I hope the twosome who just started didn’t get scared off of the game by these guys. After playing for 4 years, a few hundred rounds, this is the worst experience produced by course. If you’re desperate for a round, make sure nothing else is available before booking this places.
Front desk staff are disturbed
The morbidly obese man with the gray hair who staffs the front desk has had a terrible life and enjoys taking it out on golfers. Yells about everything and treats customers like they are garbage. Avoid this place at all costs. Dude can barely walk
