About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Course layout is good and in good condition... traps were washed out from Hurricane.. no beverage cart...
Fun Day & Fox Hollow
In fairness to Fox Hollow, we played days after a hurricane which washed out most of the sandtraps so my average condition rating is as a result. However, the course has a great layout with plenty of fun water shot par 3's and long 5's. I'd play here again without hesitation!

Been playing this course for 40cyears plus and have never seen it this bad. Rumor has it it was sold food and service afterwords was TERRIBLE. Broke my heart my favorite course hope its not true but DAM.
Thanks for your feedback. No, it has not been sold and most reviews have been overwhelmingly positive of the golf course conditions and food. We've been told the greens are some of the best in the state and our new chef is receiving rave reviews. We continue to try and improve our service staff - as with many businesses we are having a hard time finding restaurant servers and on the day you played we had some very new people. We hope to see you back.

Have played thos course a thousand times absolutely love it, however today was the WORßT I ever saw it. Been playing here for 30 years never saw it this bad in disarray Stopped for lunch after round food and service were woe. Heard rumors place was sold got that feel today . Absolutely broke my heart my favorite course ,hope its not true and it comes back to its normal. Played here 1 month ago and it was a totally different story. I never thought I would be throwing my course this course under the bus but it is what it is.

Not Worth the Time, Effort Or Expense
My husband and I agreed that this was the worse round ever. The pace of place was so horrible we gave up after 16 holes. Did not see a ranger all day (Spoke to staff member when we returned the cart and he said the ranger left early.) The course was not in great shape and tee boxes were all dug up. Another issue, there is restaurant onsite which does not see to want business. Restaurant closes at 6pm. When we got there at 4:30PM, we were politely told that if we wanted to order food, we should do it now since the cook was leaving shortly. We spent $89 per person for the most unenjoyable round of golf in our lives.

Thanks for sharing your feedback so that we can improve. Staffing the restaurant has been an issue, as with many restaurants, and we have limited our hours to address this. We would love to stay open longer. That said, at 4:30 they should have accommodated you. I will follow up with our team right away.

Not worth the time or money. Better, cheaper places available
Where to start...when the golf carts are the highlight of the round, you know its not worth the playing again.
Driving range is small, 5 mat stations and 5 grass stations except the grass stations were infested with hornets.
Pace of play was beyond.slow. played as a threescore that took over 5 hours to play 18. Had to wait on several holes at both the tee boxes and fairways. When we did see the marshal he was more concerned if we had our own beers??
Greens are unkept and in rough shape. Some had hornet activity, dead patches or just lumpy.
Bottom line,, save your money and time - not worth the cost or time. Tons of better places in the area.

We are sorry that the round was not up to your expectations. Other reviews of the greens and turf conditions have been excellent. Following this year's bumper crop of cicadas there is now a ton of "cicada killer" wasps that we have sprayed for. Since we have a liquor license, regulations don't allow BYOB, but I'll make sure the staff handles that more diplomatically. Lastly, we patrol for pace of play every day and our pace was 4 hours for most of this past weekend. We will try to ensure that we stay on top of that. Thanks for coming out and we hope that we can serve you again and that you will have a better experience.
