Fox Hollow Golf Club
About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Winter golf
February golf in NJ. Friendly staff. Comfortable vibe. Course was in very good shape for the dead of winter. I will play here again.
Great course
Was very impressed with the conditions, especially the greens. We got stuck behind a super slow group that had no regard for the multiple groups waiting behind them. We were the third group that had to skip a hole and get around them. I don’t blame tbe course, at this time of year I would not expect them to have a ranger out there.
Good challenging course but greens are not fair
I have played Fox Hollow several times and always find the conditions to be very good. The layout is very challenging; I have a handicap of 10 and always shoot in the mid to upper 80's at Fox Hollow. My one ongoing complaint about Fox Hollow is that several of the greens are unfair. All of the greens are fast and most slope quite a bit. I am used to fast greens and a lot of break, but these greens are different. I have often had really short putts - 1 to 3 feet - that miss and go 10 to 20 feet past the hole. It isn't just me - even members and others who play Fox Hollow all the time have this problem. In fact, there have been several times where someone just touches the ball and it rolls down the green and off the edge. So, when I play Fox Hollow, I just accept that I will have a lot of putts. The course is really hilly so you can get a lot of uphill, downhill, and sideways lies. Knowing the course really helps because there are a few holes where you can hit into the middle of the fairway and the ball rolls off the side. But, unlike the greens, the sloped fairways are not unfair - you just have to know where to hit your drive. Overall, Fox Hollow is worth playing, especially if you can get one of their lower priced tee times.

Hidden gem
The greens were in great shape fairways and tees were good. The restaurant and beverage cart were closed which I understand at this point off the season. Too bad they have a nice patio and good lunch menu. The pace of play on the front nine was great the back nine was due to a group that was playing a tournament which slowed pace but still not bad. I wish o would have taken some pictures the course offers some nice views
Definitely a thumbs up

Fox Hollow
As a 68 year old with a 12 handicap, I found the course challenging and rewarded good shot play from the white tees. The course was in excellent shape as well.
5:15 Round
Course was in decent shape, but for $90 you would expect a better pace of play, a bev cart that stopped to serve instead of just waving back, and water on the course.
Excellent!
Course is in great shape overall except couple of holes that appeared to have some water damage from the storms. It is well kept from the Tee boxes to the Greens all the way. Would love to go back for another round before the season is over!
