About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Second tee, still winter
Got off at 9:14 AM. Never saw group in front until 16. Never saw anyone behind. Winter conditions but good considering all the snow we had. Starter was friendly, Rangers were out there. Greens have some testy slopes, but considering grass isn’t growing yet, they were in good shape.
Nice course
The ranger was a nice pleasant person . The man behind the counter was rude , nasty and extremely un accommodating. When I went to check in I noticed four foursomes by the first tee waiting in line . Which anyone would have to admit is somewhat unusual . When I checked in I had asked why the back up the gentleman behind the counter said what back. There’s no back up . I figured maybe he didn’t know so I said there’s something like 8 carts 16 people ,Chinese men . He got insulted and said what are you talking about they play here every week and I know them for many years . I said I don’t have anything against Asian people I’m just asking if there’s a back up and I described who’s waiting . He got so made that he came outside with me . Like I was making it up and he wanted to show me i was wrong . He just had to say these people play here a lot and they are one group and they lineup like that . That’s all he made a federal case out of it . Extremely rude
Course is short but fun
I've played Fox Hollow at least 20 times over the years. It's kept in good shape, the greens are consistent, and MOST of the staff is friendly. They just have one employee (blue hat this year) that is the most combative starter I've ever met at a course. It's been that way for years, and he doesn't seem to be changing his ways as he grows older.
Unfortunately, it just takes one employee to ruin an experience. Time after time, year after year, blue hat guy's power trips ruin the mood for the first few holes - I've seen him aggress other groups too.
Frankly, the rest of the staff and management is excellent, the food is excellent, the driving range is usually open, and the course is pure. I just don't understand why they keep such a pugnacious person up front.

Blues back today makes very challenging. Greens quick. Always good time. $2 Miller lights most excellent!
Great day
Little frost delay in morning so people got sent out on 4th hole. We were next and starter came out and said go to 10. Nice.
We didn’t wait the rest of the day. For a late November the day was perfect. Course in great shape and staff got us out. 4 hr 15 minute round.
The pace of play was terrible. We had a reservation but people without a reservation were added in front of us We signed up for 18 holes but stopped after 9 holes when the 9 holes took close to 3 hours. There was no ranger and we waited on almost every shot The course was also not in good shape

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. Please call me at 908-586-4361 so we can make it right. Pace of play is not normally an issue, so I will look into it with our director of golf right away. Our average pace is under 4 hours and we have received rave reviews about the course conditions.
Great First Play
Played today for the first time. Course was pretty much in great shape, bunkers were a bit hard. Cart girl came around frequently. Burgers at the grille afterwards were a hit. We'll definitely plan to be back next year.
