Fox Hollow Golf Club
About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Challenging layout, good greens, tee boxes - no so much
Played here for the first time on a Sunday afternoon teeing off with a 12:50 tee time. We went off on time but it took 4:45 minutes to play our round. Prior reviews had claimed the tee boxes were beat up. I wouldn't say they were beat up so much as very few tee boxes offered a flat hitting area. Our foursome continued to comment on how many tee boxes were setup in a way that resulted in a tee shot with a ball above your feet or below your feet. A bit of an annoyance. Greens were in good shape, offered plenty of break, but were fairly easy to read. A lot of vertical up and down on the holes and holes designed forcing you to layup or hit a perfect shot. I liked the layout, my partner did not as he had to leave the driver in the bag on a number of holes. Decent round, but probably wouldn't return given the price point.
Won’t return
The ranger ruined this round of golf for us. There was no foursome in front or behind us and we finished around 4-4.5 hours with a stop at the Grille after front 9. He literally followed us for probably 10 out of the 18 holes gave us multiple warnings. All in I spent probably $500+ for round food and beverage & had a good time but this guy ruined it for us. We spoke to other groups and they all had the same complaint of the over zealous ranger.
The course is decent, definitely overpriced for the quality.
great place for golf
Liked the challenging course. Each tee box presents a little different look. Tee boxes could use a little more care. Pace was excellent today, starter efficient and friendly as well as an easy checkin. Saw the refreshment cart twice in the 3hours and 25 minutes it took us to finish the round. greens in good condition, fairways near the greens showed some player neglect. rough and fairways in good condition. This course is high on my referral list, and will be back!
Great course but needs a little better upkeep
I’ve played Fox Hollow a few times and each time it’s just as challenging as the previous. The course is in great condition and keeps you on your toes the entire time.
The only advice I would have for management is to cut the grass in the rough (left and right of the fairway) a little shorter. It is super difficult to find your ball if you hit into it and even harder to get a decent shot out of it, compared to other courses.
Awful condition
No grass on tee boxes. Fairways were caked in mud. Bunkers were either clay or footprints
Very nice course
The course is in excellent shape. Average difficulty level. A very enjoyable round.
Second time was not a charm
Fox Hollow is a unique track with some interesting holes.
Better hit GIR - rough was excessively thick. Greens are no easier; the undulating and speed made quite a challenge.
For $92 I thought I was going to hit the range on grass only to be disappointed.
I felt like I was doing a perp walk upon arrival dealing with the starter.
At least the kid inside apologized for the Keurig machine being broken.
I hate myself for leaving this review, but I feel better now.
Great course
It was a good day but would have been great if a ranger was on site to help move along the group ahead. The front nine was great fast paced, but the back nine I caught up to a twosome with no courtesy hitting two balls each almost every hole.
Average golf course
- Nothing special about this course for $90 a round. $60 would be more reasonable
- Some tee boxes were absolutely poor (see pictures)
- 7am Tee time and the starter sent out 15 “members” in front of us at 6:50am.
-staff are great

Thanks for coming out. Our weekday rate of $59 is a great deal, so please take advantage of that. We've been so busy this year that tees are an ongoing focus and we are about to rebuild and sod several of them. Thanks for your feedback.
