About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Not an enjoyable day
The course had dry grass cuttings all over, divots not filled in and unrepaired ball marks on every green. The marshals let the four jerks in front of us play as slow as - - - -Never coming back
Why don’t they have water on the course
Come on. Nearly 100 degrees and no water. This is the second time I have played here and no water on the course. Unsat.
Matt - the coolers were EMPTY by noon. Why only one per each 9 holes. Other courses have 2 if not 3 coolers per 9!holes. The igloo cooler never works. You can’t put enough water in a small cooler, and people probably take 2-3 waters.
I am sorry that you had an unsatisfactory experience. That's not our norm.
We offer snacks and beverages after the 4th green, free bottles water at the 5th and 15th tees, more snacks and beverages at the 9th / 10th turn, so normally people find what they need, even on days when we are not running our two beverage carts.
On very hot days we also provide ice-chilled towels, but sometimes they run out in the afternoon, so you may have missed that.

Challenging shortly
Never thought that playing a course with less than 6k yards could be so challenging. Lots of blind shots and tricky greens will put your course managment skills to the test! A lot of fun to play
Thanks for coning out. The course is a hidden secret and people don't realize how challenging it can be, with elevation changes and holes that will take every club. It plays to 6,400 yards from the blue tees, which suits most golfers just fine.

Hot summer afternoon nice course
The weather forecast was scatter thunderstorm in the late afternoon. The starter gave us a "go" to speed up the play and to finish before the rain. It was nice pace to finish a round 3 and half hour with foursome.

Multiple Elevation Changes
Course has multiple elevation changes . You will rarely have a flat lie. The fairways are mainly thin & hard. Greens are in good shape & run fast with some sharp breaks. Course needs to have more yardage markers. I believe the course is over priced unless you get a hot deal from Golf Now.

Keep it in the short stuff
First time played course, not terribly long but fine example of target golf, being 1st time not exactly sure where targets were. Rough not necessarily high but thick and gnarly. Slight thunderstorm passed through for possibly 20 minute delay but 4 some completed in 4 hours. Def worth trying again

Rough really?
I’m going to cut some slack because we have had so much rain. However the height of the rough was almost unplayable. If you want to keep the course moving you need to cut it back. I like the course but it needs some TLC.

Not worth the Trip
I only had read good things about this course but I was highly disappointed. The staff in the pro shop was cold to us, and I think took offense to us booking a hot deal on Golf Now. We paid 45$ and that would definitely be the max for the course. Greens were inconsistent and the tee boxes were choppy.
I would come out and play again if I could play it for 45$ or under. Way nicer courses in the area for comparable pricing. The area around the greens were pretty tough too with half dirt/mud and half grass.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Our pro shop staff are very attentive and normally receive rave reviews.
As for the course, you probably played after one fo the several 2-in rain storms that flooded us this spring. I think you will find things much improved now. Our course has also been getting excellent reviews for its conditions.

First time playing this course
very nice layout,short but narrow. staff was nice.harder then it looks with all the hills and valleys greens were hard and fast going down hill. I will be going back to play.

I'm sorry about your experience. The reviews and guest feedback on the course has been excellent, and re constantly remind people about ball marks and divots. Our normal pace is less than 4:15 so your experience is not the norm. Please give us another shot and please give me a call before you book.
