About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Very good conditions
NJ has been deluged with rain throughout the winter. This has made it difficult for the Greens Keepers. But this course was in very good shape. Because of the wet you did not get much roll-out of your ball. Nor were the greens as fast as they usually are. But this is Mother Nature's fault, not the course.
Another great day of golf at Fox Hollow.
The course was in great condition on this beautiful day.
The only downside was that the foursome in front of us was painfully slow. Usually play the round in about 3 1/2 hours and today was closer to 5 hours.

good value for the price
Course was wet in spots but generally in good conditions Be prepared for hills if you like a flat course you won’t like this one Water in play on several holes makes it interesting I will play here again

Well worth the trip
This course deserves all the good reviews it received.
The layout and condition for this time of year is excellent. The staff we met were all really friendly.
Would like to play it again in better and warmer conditions but we all enjoyed the day.
It’s a good challenging walk if you choose to and a great price on GN.

WET!
Surprised it was open after an inch+ of rain the day before. It was cart path only (CPO), to be expected.
It was very playable other than the casual water.
No rakes for the bunkers, very interesting. Best part, only $40 to ride.
one of the best
I have played this course many times this year and even though they just aerated and had some coding on the green they still were fasting amp true. I recommend this course that all types of players you will really enjoy it The staff here is very friendly and helpful
First time played here. Great shape considering played late in year. Rollinghills beautiful views definitely be back in spring
Cart Path Bound
This course was a good time. The fairways and greens were very soft (wet) so the ball plugged on most shots.
First time playing and I will go back when it isn't Cart path only.
Busy day at Fox Hollow
Had a 12:30 tee time and I got to the course at 11:55 to find a line of carts at the first tee. Found out there was a small outing, but we were close to being on time. Staff did a nice job keeping us on time and getting everyone out.
With lots of players on the course there were some spots where the course showed some wear. Need more players to replace divots, fix ball marks and rake traps more often.
We were told that the greens were cut faster by the staff and they were right. Greens rolls well and they were quick. Stay below the hole.
Will play here again, but can’t see it being my home course when both the 9th and 18th holes end as par 3s.
What was I thinking?
I've been playing golf in this area for over 30 years. This is my first time playing at Fox Hollow - What was I thinking? I'm sad that this is my first instead of my 30th time. What a fun course! A few years ago I was at Murifield in Dublin OH and and thought they were sister courses. Where did all the elevation changes come from in the rolling Somerset Hills? The course was wet due to the unrelenting rain we've endured this season so it was cart path only. We were still able to finish our round in a little over 3 hours. Length isn't he challenge here rather the greens are almost universally elevated. The putting surfaces have a lot of movement in them and generally sloped back to front. Best to leave your approach under the hole or you're in for an adventure. Much like most courses in the area the bunkers were firm with just enough sand in them to make them playable. Leave the sand iron in the bag and grab your gap wedge otherwise you'll be bouncing into the ball. For as wet as it was, the greens held a lot of speed and rolled pretty true. Overall I really liked this course and need to put it in my playing rotation.
Pleasantly Surprised
1st time playing this course. My golf buddies and I found the course challenging and rewarding. The Greens were super fast and smooth. I recommend this course to players of all skill levels -- especially for the 'Hot Deal' price advertised. I feel if the course wasn't wet from the rain the night before, I would enjoyed the play even more.
Fun course
The layout was excellent. Conditions could’ve been better but with wacky summer this year no real complaints. Greens were speedy and sloped. Not a long course but challenging nonetheless.
Thanks. We are drying out and I've been told that the greens are the best they have been for March. We are rolling them daily and only have mowed one so far, but with this warm spell (finally) they will be mowed daily from here on out.
