Fox Hollow Golf Club
About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Great Time
Played on Monday morning...few people on the course. Round went uninterrupted. Course was in good shape. Greens were running around 9 or 10, almost healed from aeration. Could not of been better for 2nd round of the year. A little pricey (beer was $6 also).
Great value
With the threat of rain, played a sub 3.5 hour round. Great condition, relatively easy, short course but long par 5s. I’ll be back plenty.
Great Layout, Challenging yet fair
Played here the other day for the first time. Was expecting a lot with an $80 price tag, and Fox Hollow delivered. Even for an early season round the greens rolled true, albeit a little slow.
3.5 stars
Course is decent. Condition, routing and variety is all not bad. I can’t say it’s worth a long drive to visit because I just didn’t find it that interesting.
The bunkers are haphazardly placed and undefined. There’s water on the course but it all looks unnatural and utilitarian. The course needs more definition. I think Fox Hollow has potential to be a good course, but some thought (strategic and artistic) and care need to be put in to it. It needs love. It’s too short not to look beautiful.
At the moment, it’s not comparable to Bally, Neshanic, Architects and Heron.
Please come out again, I think you will like it better now that the wettest spring and long winter are over and our maintenance staff have been doing their magic. Its a fun course that can be almost half the price of Architects and Bally,, without the county / muni. taxpayer subsidy of Heron and Neshanic.

It's All Good
Course is in good shape. Not many golfer, probably be cause the fees are a little on the high side. They will be aerating after memorial day.
Great challenging layout
I've played this course many times over the years over the past 25 years and it seams to continue to get better and better.
It's a challenging well maintained golf course. Got my Tee Time through GolfNow.com at a good discount, which helps tremendously when you are a retiree and can't afford to play too many upscale courses such as Fox Hollow. Highly recommend this course. Be aware, it is challenging.
Excellent course condition in cold weather
I am very please to play golf with good course condition although snow is still on my backyard. We finish 18 holes in a little over 2 hours with cart path only. The tee box, fairway and greens are all in good condition.
Nor'Easter Relief
Fox Hollow was one of the only courses without snow. My compliments to the grounds crew who put the course into playable shape. Cart path only. It was quite playable, very nice layout not as easy as the length would indicate. I'm sure I'll be back to enjoy this course in better weather.
Feb. golf in NJ.
Well I can’t complain about anything. I was playing golf in NJ in February. Actually I was pleasantly surprised of the condition of course after a Nor-Easter . Only one hole on back nine was really wet. Nice lay out , each hole had it’s own nuances. Definite replay once season is truly underway here in Northeast.
Very challenging
Lat time I played here was a few years ago. Didn't realize the course was this challenging and fun. It's all up and down hills. Regret walking. Condition was surprisingly good for off season. Definitely coming back.
Best Kept Secret
I often play at the many private clubs in the area as guests of others, but when looking for a public course in central NJ this course is a great choice, with better holes and conditions than some fo the privates I play. The pace of play is good, unlike most of the other public and county courses, and the staff treats you like a member for the day at a great value.
Excellent greens, fairways and bunkers despite playing on the first day after the snowmelt this winter. The holes are challenging and it has some of the best visual holes in NJ. #4, #7, #8, #13, #17 were especially great and #18 over water was a great way to wrap it up. All-in-all a great experience in under 4 hours. I look forward to the spring and coming back.

Glad you had a great round. Please download our app, we send out specials from time to time. There are times of the week in season where greens fee and carts are less than $39. If you have kids or grandkids they also golf and ride for free after 3 pm with an adult.
