About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

First and last time
Never seen a course so backed up in my life. Took an hour to play 2 holes. Group behind me had about 12 people. Always had three groups in each hole. I don’t know how the owners/rangers can let this happen. Will never come back.
Fast greens. Good tee boxes and bunkers. Fairways cut short and rough was manageable. Staff did a good job with leaves. Always a good round at fox hollow.
Unique Layout
With 3 par 3's on each nine, its a strange layout but still gives you the standard two par 5's on each nine. Couple blind shots to deal with so riding ahead on certain holes is highly recommended. Got a steal for $35 including cart to play in the morning as a single added on to a threesome. Fun course but difficult if you're not striking it well.
Excellent Course Conditions & Friendly Staff
I’ve played at Fox Hollow a few times, and it’s always a great experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit enjoyable right from the start. The course conditions are consistently excellent, with the greens always rolling true and smooth—some of the best I’ve played on. The layout is both engaging and fun, offering a great mix of challenge and playability. I'm looking forward to my next round!
Great Shape for October
We had a couple of slow foursomes ahead of us but since the weather was nice it was still a pleasant round. The fairways in greens have held up well for this late in the year. This is one of my top 5 favorite layouts in New Jersey.
Fun yet challenging round at Fox Hollow
We enjoying our morning round at Fox Hollow. The course is kept in excellent condition. The greens were very fast at the beginning of the round, which made play challenging. First time playing there, so I wasn't sure how to handle some of the blind shots. The course makes you play strategically, which is enjoyable.
Excellent day of gilf
The fairways were recently punched but other than that course was in excellent condition. Greens were quick and challenging. Weather was perfect for golfing. Overall a good experience
Great Layout - Still in Good Shape
The course is still in good shape - fast greens and good looking fairways. The pace was below average, though. We had a foursome on front of us who spent 10 minutes on each green. We told the Ranger on the 7th hole and it didn't help. It's still worth it for the money, though.
Expensive - Poor condition
I was excited to play there expecting a top notch course for that price. Very disappointed with the course and pace of play. Ballmarks all over the greens, fairways in poor condition, tee boxes were very beat up and not level. We were asked how the pace of play was and we said very slow and they didn't do anything about it. Why ask? Over 5 hours to play a round.
