Sugar Isle Golf Course
About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Very busy course.
Some challenging holes, 18 is island green. Would not pay regular fee to play this course.
A good course for the money.
There were some challenging holes on this course and the overall condition was fairly good. The greens were a bit shaggy but they ran well and were in good shape for August.
Hack away
The course is in need of repair. The facilities are poor and the grounds are rough. If it werent for golfnow and the cheaper rates then the course would not be played that often.
Fun course
Water early on is always a challenge. Greens were in good shape. 18th is always memorable!
somewhat of a disaster
I used to play here once a week and it was a beautiful course that was well maintained and as was a good value for price. My first time back in two years (had a newborn addition to house) and i must say i was quite displeased. The price i got on golf now was 20$ which from past memory was a great deal for this course. However, the course was a disaster. There was a hug storm that had blown through two days before so i will give a little benefit of doubt but you could tell the maintenance overall was lacking. the greens were spray painted massively which caused for putting in molasses on most holes. The 2nd par 3 on the course (hole 6 or 7 i believe) had all 4 tee box markers (red, white, blue and yellow) set up right next to each other and not even in same order, it was odd. One of the maintenance workers driving around had his rap music blaring from his vehicle as he went around and sprayed the course randomly, he never stopped to allow hitting and never turned down his music, it was quite loud. There used to be a bigger selection of food in the clubhouse but now was just chips and sandwiches to microwave (from what i saw) and i had to try 5 different golf carts before i found one that actually had some juice and could go. I'm really not trying to run the course down, but it was an awful experience and not at all how i remember the course just a few years back. I'd go back but not for more than 20$, i am sure it will look a bit better next time as they will have time to fix it up following the storm
great Course. Well maintained
These people are friendly and keep the course well maintained. The greens are great.
Needs fairways
Nice farm setting. Decent feild. But needs defined fairways, high grass. Could potentially be a nice course if it had a good superintendent. Better cuts and more water the field could be a nice and challenging course with their greens.
Sugar Isle
Sugar Isle is not as well maintained as it has been in years past. The greens tend to be shaggy and slow. They don't hold shots unless you use a high spinning ball like a Pro-V1. The tee boxes and fairways are in decent shape though as is the rough. Overall, a good value for the money, but don't expect outstanding conditions.
Enjoyed!
Very nice course. Well maintained. Staff very courteous.
Nice course
Finished the front in under 2 hours. Ran into slow players on the back. Made for a long evening. Ended up around 4.5 hours for 18.
Good challenging course
Well kept up and maintained. Greens had good pace. Water comes in to play on numerous holes.
A gem
I played here for the first time in May 2013. The course staff was nice and helpful. The course was well maintained and is located in farm country. The back nine is surrounded by fields and there is no noise from any traffic, etc. The 18th hole is a copy of the "green monster" and is challenging. This course can get busy so pick your tee times strategically. I went late afternoon on a weekday and only saw a handful of other golfers. I play alone and fast so I can do this course in under 3 hours if I can play through a couple of groups. With a group you can expect 4 to 5 hours as most golfers on this course play slower than others I've been to.
An excellent course in a rural setting
I enjoyed playing the course and it was in great condition. It should be noted, however, that the course does not have water available on the course. The golf carts seem to be well maintained and ours was clean. The 18th green is an extremely interesting par 3, surrounded by water and approached from an elevated tee.
The course was in good shape with the exception of a couple tee boxes.
An outing was booked after we had made our tee times, the staff was very nice and went out of their way to accommodate us. Even though the pace of play was slow we still enjoyed ourselves.
Course in good shape.
sugar isle was in pretty good shape but the greens were bumpy and shaggy.
Hurry up and wait
There is not a slower pace of play in the Miami valley. Staff can be cordial and be rude depends on the day. Not a place to teach young ones to golf simpy because the staff doesn't appear to want that business. Not a good golf course, not well enough maintained to be that uppity .
over priced
played this course several times, in league. Nice course but for the money they want you can go to a really nice course..
A long drive
Nice course. Just outside of town. A long drive from Wilmington but it was worth the trip to play it once this year. Its well worth going to play. Challenging layout. Nice condition and great price. Some good character at certain points. Out in the middle of no where for most though.
played today 8-12-16 made the turn there was a 6 some in front of us so my wife and I drove past them to the next hole. One of them was the manager he can up to us and said what do you thin your doing.I said your not suppose to have 6 people playing at the same time.It get heated.I told him he doesn't have to follow the rules just everyone else.Stick this garbage course. There are dead spots everywhere. They should pay you to play there.People not friendly course is garbage.Your better of to play in your back yard.Do not go here.
