Windy Knoll Golf Club

The course was in good shape. I few of the holes were a little soggy so there may be some drainage issues in a few places. I interacted with staff in the clubhouse, the starter and one of the maintenance crew and everyone was very friendly and willing to share information. Some of the bunkers were wet and compacted (fortunately I avoided them all day) but the starter told me they would be replacing them over the next a few years with new rebuilds with better drainage and new sand.

Pace of play was good: the carts had GPS units that were very useful for us but they also allow the starter to monitor cart positions on the course. He told me when they see groups falling behind that they reach out to the carts via messaging or personal visit. The starter did talk about pace of play before we started. While we didn't have any issues or see notification in action they do seem to care about pace of play. Tee times were 10 minutes apart.

Pro Tip: No carts allowed in the parking lot but the cart path runs along the back side of the lot. If you back into one those spaces you can pretty much drive right up to the back of your car to unload and pack up.

It's been raining a lot, but despite that the course was in great shape. Even the greens still rolled faster than we expected. Pace of play was fine. My friends and I really appreciated the value we received and the friendly staff.

It was a very good time after we played through 3 extremely slow women golfers at the turn. People need to learn some golf etiquette.

They flipped the holes which is fine. Doesn't really matter. Staff is always very nice. My tee time was 7:30am & they let me go out as a single at 7:00am. Good layout. Fee range balls since they're under new management too which was nice.

Greens and tees and fairways in good shape. Bunkers in good shape. I am not a fan of them letting the natural areas grow wild, it looks a little unkempt and weedy for my liking. Although I get the idea of it.

Played this course many time and still love it every time. Greens were a little rough from ball marks. Pace of play was slow but it was the weekend. 5 hours. Great course! Will definitely be back!

Since new ownership…there’s a different vibe overall. New GPS system is awful. 5 hour round due to slow play and GPS restrictions. Windy Knoll is known to have a Canadian Geese population problem..but it’s terrible…not to mention the goose crap all over the greens and fairways. $40 to $52 to play…c’mon.

If you are looking for a course that presents a challenge, quality greens and is maintained well, then Windy Knoll is your course. My friends and I play this course several times a year and the experience is always the same. I have nothing negative to say, and would recommend this course to anyone looking for a good course and experience.

With 10 inches of rain for the month of May…the course needs time to dry out. Back nine a bit wet as expected. Give it a week or so to dry and allow maintenance to get after the course. Not a big fan of new owners allowing the heather areas to encroach the course…this will lead to longer rounds as folks look for $5 golf balls. 🥴😂
