Sugar Isle Golf Course
About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

frost delay
We had a little problem starting on time because of some frosting. Once we got started things went pretty well. I think because of the weather ground crew might have been a little behind in cleaning some of the fairways from leaves. I like playing here and will be back. love the 18th hole
Bring your A-game!
This course is enjoyable to play and will challenge your skills as a golfer. Greens are fast and in good shape. Bunkers are well tended except for the few where an ingrate walks across it and is too lazy to rake it. One of the groundskeepers mentioned they were in process of altering a few of the fairways by shortening them and adding more rough in front of the greens. This should make the course even more interesting and challenging.
Fun Course
Course was in excellent condition. Greens were hard to read some were slow some were fast. But cant complain for $10 for 18 with a cart. Beautiful day as well. Only issue was the mowers wouldnt stop when you were going and the crew would turn the sprinklers on when we were teeing off so we hit into sprinklers on in fairways for the first 7 holes.
Enjoyed Round
Course is challenging but fair. The tees were not in good shape but the fairways were ok due to being so dry. Traps were very hard. Greens nice but hard due to dry conditions.
Nice
Nice, challenging course. Course is well taken care of. Will definitely return and recomend to others.
Pretty good
Staff was awesome and course was in really good condition. Making tee times on line was great.
Course has plenty of water holes
This course makes you pick your spots on when to be aggressive. Lots of water hazards. The greens were in great shape. However, the tee boxes and fairways need some maintenance. As a once-a-month player, it was moderately challenging. The weather was excellent and we had a good time. For the person who wants to work on their target golf skills, this is a good course for them.
Great course for developing skills
This coarse has a lot of water and sand making it easier to screw up. Really teaches you to focus on skills to avoid danger areas.
NICE COURSE
WATER AND SAND TRAPS WILL MAKE YOU PLAY YOUR BEST.
Nice course
I had a nice experience playing at this course. While it is a relatively easy course, it was in nice shape. People in the pro shop were very cordial. I had not played there in many years, but it was a pleasant experience. I will return.
greens were in great shape
Front desk gentleman taking money was not very friendly. It seemed that is was a problem that I was there.
This course has started to slightly decline.
I love Sugar Isle. I've played there for years. Unfortunately it seems the course has taken just a slight downturn this past year. One of the reasons is likely due to lazy players. My most recent trip (8-14-14) there seemed to be an abnormal amount of unrepaired divots on the greens. Another reason is that there's been ALLOT of tree's cut down. While this does make for a little easier play on some holes, it takes away from the scenery and feel that I've come to love. Other than that this course is still in good condition, and I still consider it one of my favorites.
A gem
Had been a few years since I had played here moved away and hadn't had the chance to play but wow! It is in really great shape, too bad I don't live closer to this course I would join only 1,000 for seniors includes cart anytime 1200 for others what a deal.
Great first experience
First time at Sugar Isle. Overall had a great time. The best thing about this course is that almost every hole offers something different. Blind tee shots, lots of dog legs, trees, island green and tons of water. I had to hit irons and hybrids off several tees instead of driver. There are some challenging holes with water at the perfect distance to eat your ball. But there are several birdie holes too. I would definitely recommend and will play again soon.
Great Character
This is a great course. The fairways and greens are in great shape. The bunkers are well maintained and are a compliment to this course. Recommend this course to anyone.
The course was much improved from last year
The staff member told us when checking in that we would see a noticeable difference in the course. The greens were very good and rolled true. Much attention had been given to the fairways and the rough. Overall the course had been cleaned up since I last played the course last year. It was the first time to play the course for two of our foursome and they want to go back.
I would recommend you consider the course if you haven't played it this year.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
One of my favorite courses
Sugar Isle is one of my favorite courses. If you play smart you can score low here. Greens are a challenge, but fun, and if you 1 putt from more than 5 feet, you walk away feeling good. Decent pro shop for the area.
Fun Course to Play
The course was in excellent condition in spite of the severe storms that traveled through the area two days earlier. Several of the greens had multiple tiers that rewarded players that could hit accurate shots into greens. Also, the course contained several water holes that required the golfer to control tee and fairway shots. Greenside bunkers protected several greens. I especially like the 18th green (island green) as it rewarded the golfer who hits accurate iron tee shots.
Very Nice!
Sugar Isle is a very nice course! It had been several years since last time I played it and almost forgot how good it was. Each hole is unique and very little redundancy. You won't be disappointed!
