About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Geese are out of control
There were several greens that we just picked up and took a two put because of the amount of goose droppings
Greens are great
Course was very busy, but pace moved along It was 4 hours to play 18 Greens were fantastic Had my all time best putting round
Heat wave
Course is in really good condition. During this heatwave the course has remained in excellent condition. Staff should be congratulated on the work they have done to stay on top of this. Front desk staff are very friendly. Overall I thoroughly enjoy playing here. Greens have great speed and roll true. If you’re looking for a nice course at a fair price look no further.
Great course
What a turn around! Great course, greens were well maintained and a good challenge, right amount of trees for your average +15 handicap, still find greens when missing fairway.
Nice course
Facility was in good shape. Pace was ok. Always have a good time playing there. Highly recommended.
Tricky Greens
Interesting layout, with severely undulating greens on many holes. Good thing the greens are receptive and are not overly fast. A good mix of doglegs in both directions, and straight holes. Par 3's are challenging and all different lengths. Personally i think the slope is underrated from the whites. Can easily be walked as not too many hills, nor long distances between tee boxes. Carts are not in the best of shape, nor are the cart paths. And the tunnel between 14 and 15 is only a couple of inches wider than the cart.
Rounding into shape
This course continues to improve year after year. You can see the hard work. Everything is green and lush. No burn outs. Greens were smooth and 7 out of 10 on speed. But the greens were HARD. No chance to stop a premium balls with a wedge from the fairway. Spent the day trying to land short and bounce it on.
Good course but the Cart?
Everything was good but the cart was…how can I say “terrible “. Stomping on the accelerator two or three times to get it to backfire?! lol Scared my wife every time! I’ll recommend they check their cart before going out!
Played my last round here.
I've been playing this course for 10 years off and on. I can honestly say I've played my last round here. Which is unfortunate because the course itself is very clean and well maintained. I can and have been looking past the very unfriendly staff here for years because it's close to home and the course itself has a good layout. However, the last five to ten rounds I've played here just take way too long, on average it takes 5.5 to 6 hours to play 18, the final straw being the last round I played to take 6 hours and 20 mins! The staff here over books the course and it's exhausting to wait 10 to 20 mins between each golf shot due to over booking. So if you don't mind spending 20 mins a hole, this is the course for you!
