Madison Country Club
About
Opened in 1923, Madison Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the area. It has a traditional design that measures to a modest 6,145 yards from the back tees. The golf course may be short by modern standards but this member-owned course has been a local favorite since it first opened. The classic layout has wide, player-friendly fairways that offer plenty of room and the terrain is mostly flat, making it a good golf course to walk. There are a few mature trees scattered throughout and you'll also come across some strategically placed bunkers as well. Madison Country Club is ideal for beginners but it's also a great round of practice for more advanced players. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and short-game area at the club.

Golfer Reviews
Nice course
Pros: Nice layout, fast, nice rolling greens.
Cons: no GPS, bumpy cart paths
Slowest round of the year
5 hours 15 minutes. No ranger on the course. Was unbearable
Worth the price of admission.
Country club conditions at a public muni price.
Hot deal was $31 ea for two of us to play 18 with a cart. Very easily $150 ea course.
Fun weekend winery hopping
Was in the area to check out some of the wineries and relax. This is a very well kept course with tricky fast greens. The clubhouse could use a remodel but the staff was very friendly. Enjoyed playing here and would recommend it to others.
Classic Feel, Solid Value
Madison Country Club is a classic layout that dates back to 1923, and it definitely feels like a course from that era. It was designed by Scottish pro Sandy Alves, who worked with legendary architect Donald Ross early in his career. You can see some of that influence in the traditional layout and focus on placement. There are some tight shots, but the fairways are generally pretty open and forgiving, so it’s not overly difficult.
The greens and tee boxes were in excellent condition when I played, but the fairways were more hit or miss. The biggest negative was the bunkers, with most lacking enough sand to be playable, save for a few that had just enough near the middle. The three par 5s are among the tougher holes: No. 6 has a tucked-away green behind trees that makes reaching it in two extremely difficult, while Nos. 8 and 16 are both very long with bending fairways that partially hide the green on the second shot. The attached photo shows the beautiful tee shot on No. 10, which plays over water and has the course’s MCC initials etched into the shrubbery.
Check-in was a little unusual. The pro shop was closed around 3 p.m. on a Friday, and golfers were being sent to the snack bar instead. Not a huge issue, but it felt a little odd.
Overall, it’s a strong value, especially under $40. I can see why it’s popular and gets strong ratings. It’s an enjoyable course with plenty of classic character, and I’d definitely play it again. Worth playing if you’re in the area but not necessarily a destination course. The conditions and other minor cons keep it around a 3.8 rather than a true 4+ rating.
Nice layout
Madison CC is a traditional design golf course with a lot of trees, relatively narrow and bankers in front of the greens.
I like the layout. The price is fair. Stuff is friendly.
Cons:
- bankers have no sand,
- cart paths have many potholes,
- driving range is in a very poor condition.
- small bucket of balls is $8
Madison CC
Great layout! A couple of reachable par 4&5.
Course in good shape considering the rain we had.
Staff was friendly. Pace of play was a little slow.
Great shape
Coming from California I was excited to play some green courses. Madison has a nice layout, reasonable fairway width for a mid handicap, and medium/fast greens. From the blues, it was a little long for me with a few 200 yard approach shots but I got paired with a guy who played well and was much younger and hit it pretty long. Turned out to be a real fun round. The weather threat never materialized so just muggy warm. I’d definitely play again. It’s a bargain compared to the weather coast.

Course was is great condition! Pace of play was good. I will play this course again!
Perfect afternoon in 44057
Great layout, and great day! It was a little busy but once out on the course we had very little waiting. Was paired with two strangers which were nice to meet and they both played very well. Course was in good shape, with some fast greens that were in good shape. A couple tee boxes were beat up a little but that is easy to expect at 2:00 on a Friday. A little construction going on around the clubhouse and the turn but nothing that will interfere with your round. Course can seem narrow sometimes and you are rewarded for going straight… imagine that!
Very Nice Course
Great layout. Greens are in very nice condition. Friendly staff. Great burgers and dogs off the grill. Pace of play was about 5 hours on a Friday afternoon. Probably because the weather was so nice. I look forward to playing again.
Great value
Course was in great shape. Greens are true and fast, rest of course was in great shape. This is an older classic style of course, but still plenty challenging. This is one of the better values in the area.
Sunday morning
Normal expected crowd for a Sunday morning, I got out right at the scheduled tee time. Took just under 5 hours to play 18. (4:45) course was in good condition, greens were really fast, and hole placement was easy, and appreciated! I would recommend this course to anyone who is comfortable paying $50 for a round on a Sunday. I usually avoid sundays, because of crowds and extra cost. However this was worth it very nice layout and it was in great shape. Get there early and take advantage of the putting greens.
