notes for the greenskeeper
Every single pin was on a ridge. I understand that with a shorter course things need to be done to protect par, but this was ludicrous. Constantly having to play 8-10 inches of break on 3 foot putts gets old. Also on #16, a 435 yard par 4, there was a pine tree sticking out 30 yards in front of the blue tees. That needs removed. The greens held and the course was in beautiful conditions for a cold April day. I will play again the convenience and price are too much to pass up..
Cleveland Golf
When you can play golf this late in the year in Cleveland and barely need a jacket who can complain. Course was in good condition for this time of year even after a little rain.
Very good value course - Still in great shape as winter nears!
Golfnow.com reviews inspired me to try this course, and I am glad I did. Its worth every penny at its normal green fee (35-44 with cart), and with specials often available on GolfNow, I really think this is the best value course on the westside of Cleveland. I walked. Definitely a walking friendly course.
Played on Oct 30. Greens in great shape. They hold well, but are very quick. Plenty of challenge with more breaks and undulations than your average municipal course.
The clearly put time into clearing the course of leaves at this time of year. I didn't lose a single ball (or spend more than 15 extra seconds looking for one), despite only hitting four fairways. (Hit four fairways at Sweetbriar at this time of year, I'd lose 10). Tee boxes and greens clear.
Staff was very friendly. They saw I wanted to play quick, and gave me the path to do it - sending me off the back, and letting me push ahead at the turn in front of another player.
Straightforward golf course. No blind shots. You can see the hazards on any hole in front of you (except maybe the 11th). Nice piece of property.
SpringVale has gotten better with age ...........and a lot of loving care.
Starting with the addition of fairway sand-bunkers, and clearing of some trees, this little short course is awesome. Many area courses are dried & barren here in Sept, but SpringVale has a lot of green grass. The tee-boxes are squared-off, fairways are cut down, and around the greens can be a hairy (for the unfortunate missed GiR). I suppose I would give 4.5-stars, as the greens are not completely healed from fall aerification, but with my putting stroke, it doesn't matter. At any rate, I want to go back when the greens are putting smooth. You should score well on the short par4s, but hit to a number for your full approach shots. Be carefull of pin-position #11 ........but most of all --have FUN!
Nice shape
The course was in great shape, we teed off behind a golf outing so was kind of slow to start. The pace did pick up about half way through our 18. This was a great value for the course and we thoughly enjoyed the round.
Excellent
Nice course, well maintained. Will play again soon !
Nice course
Not many exciting holes, most pretty much straight ahead but conditions were excellent compared to what I am used to. But then there's #11. I suggest going ahead to see the mini grand canyon after you drive. You can't see it until up close. Greens were excellent.
Nice course
Very nice course. Love the 11th hole. Staff was nice and polite.
Nice greens
I got a great deal on GolfNow for $15. Greens were in great shape and overall course was in good shape. Pace of play was on the slow side but typical for a Sunday afternoon.
Great value
Springvale is in very nice shape very playable for men and women
Great Locale
Still like to rock the Vale every couple of moths! Nice course with beautiful surroundings. Airplanes on approach adds to the unique experience!
mother's day
The staff was very friendly. Rangers, starter and clubhouse staff were excellent. We had ten people involved for the mother's day hackers open and everyone on the staff helped make some adjustments for us. we had two foursome with a lone non playing rider in each group. Made for a great mother's day!!!
Firm, Fast greens
Course looked good, layout not that difficult. Close to highway. Greens were firm and fast.
Awesome Greens!
For being early in the year, the course was in outstanding shape. The greens rolled very, very well and the only places that were slightly soggy were those areas not exposed to the sun. My only complaint is with the players that played previously. FIX YOUR BALL MARKS ON THE GREEN! It's not hard to do.
Perfectly fine course
I live in the area and Springvale is the course I go to the most. It is always in as good condition as any course around town. Staff is always friendly. Not too difficult, not too easy. I've never seen the bunkers in bad condition, the fairways are always nice, and you can usually find a decent deal on here.
Staff
Staff inside clubhouse were outstanding. Starters were unfriendly and very rude.
Springvale North Olmsted
Beautiful course, friendly staff. Nice sand traps, nice greens.
Warm wet round
I purchased my round on GolfNow for 10 bucks for 18 holes. I was a little bummed out when I got to the course and found that they were going to stick me in with a threesome since I like to play by myself and I'm pretty quick. This is general practice at some courses and not at others depending on the traffic. I got lucky though when the fourth person showed up for the threesome and I got to play by myself. The starter was kind enough to let me go off the front nine. And also nice enough to let me skip ahead of the people who were on one when I made the turn. It took me about two hours and five minutes to play 18 holes. It was very wet
the night before but considering that the conditions were very nice on the course and the greens were still fast. I have played this course many times and always seen it as a good value for the money. In my opinion the signature hole is hole number 11. A long par five with lots of obstacles to get to the end. My only regret this round was that was the second hole I had to play I don't know if I was warmed up properly for that Challenge. But I played well enough not to lose a ball that made me happy. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't choose this course if you were in the area and wanted to play. I would not expect to regularly play 18 in under 3 1/2 hours since it is usually a very busy course.
