Nice Day of Golf at The Pines Golf Club
Friendly greeting in the clubhouse for our 18 hole round. Pin placement #5 for the day that can be checked on your golf cart. Greens are a bit slow but grounds in good shape except for several sand bunkers that need work. Front nine has several interesting holes with tough pin placements surrounded by sand bunkers. Length is not an issue but ball placement crucial with many trees lining the pathway. Nice water holes play a role on front and back nine.
Lunch was a selection of wrapped sandwiches along with the normal hot dogs, sausage sandwiches and beverages.
Pace of play was good considering the number of golfers on the course today. Played 18 holes in 3.5 hours .
Fun course with great value.
I took my Dad out here to play my first round of the season. After playing 18, it was a steal for the price. It wasn't crowded, course was scenic with lots of trees and landscaping. Only criticism is there was dead grass piles everywhere and the rough was thick, but it may have just been timing due to rains. Overall we were both pleased and will definitely go back again.
course has nice feaqtures
well maintained course, friendly staff, might be a little too tough for beginners
Very good course
It is very nice course for money.
Well kept and nice place to take lunch or dinner.
Recommends to friends.
Some long par 4's from the tips.
Always putt well on the course. Not a lot of roll on the greens.
Nice course.
The best value in the area. Course was in good shape. Greens rolled nice.
Staff was super.
nice
This course is very nice the greens roll great and it's very beautiful I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Trouble in the Trees
The Pines is a golf course deserving of its name, as there are many large and statuesque pine trees to be avoided throughout the 6,500 yard layout of the course. These same trees that create a peaceful, shadow-filled environment for play will also make you wish you had brought a chainsaw if you can't keep your shots in the fairway! As one stands on the first tee it becomes apparent that the pine trees invited a lot of other kinds of trees to join them in guarding the fairways against the golfing public! Narrow fairways lined with a gauntlet of trees on both sides will greet you on many holes. These are not small trees. Many are so large that they intrude onto the edges of the fairways making it necessary to bend your shots left and right approaching the greens.
If the trees aren't enough to deal with, there are numerous strategically placed bunkers guarding both fairways and greens. The sand is of a very coarse consistency and there is not a lot of it in the bunkers. If you have a choice bring a sand wedge with very little bounce as escaping the traps requires very precise strikes without taking a lot of sand. There is some water to be avoided on the course. Not that much, but where there is water it is always where your ball is most likely to find it!
This course is not a well-kept secret! It gets a lot of play! The greens are well-maintained and roll at a good pace. There is a good mixture of flat and undulating greens which offer everything from subtle to sweeping breaks on putts.
There are many changes in elevation that makes for challenging club selection on approach shots. The front nine is very tight and requires accurate shot-making. The back opens up a little bit but has more elevation changes. You can score on this course, but you must keep your game under control.
Possibly the biggest challenge to your score is the Brunch buffet that is served in the clubhouse from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m! The food is excellent and is included with your green fees on Wednesday and Thursday!
Be sure to add this course to your playing schedule!
It will test your game and fill up your belly at the same time!
Fun place great staff
Fun place to play great staff I would recommend to other .... Enjoy everyone
Challenging anf fun!
I enjoyed playing this course. We didn't get backed up at all through 18 holes of play. Mostly open but still challenging. Booked with golf now and saved a ton. We are going again today.
I almost hate to share how good this was.
This, by far, is the best golf course I have played in the last 8 years. I just left Florida where golf courses are like convenience stores and none of them hold a candle to the pines. The fairways were beautiful, green, and perfectly manicured. The greens were even better. When I checked in at the pro shop, the employee could not have been any nicer. I was even able to get out 30 minutes before my tee time.
I have to say that, when back home, I will definitely be spending some time out at The Pines Golf Course. Absolutely amazing.
Awesome course
Great course for beginners and experienced golfers. Roughs kept short. Customer service the best. Highly recommend.
Great bargain for a decent course!
The Pines staff have done a great job keeping the course in great shape and the greens are all well maintained.
Average Course, Great for the deals
Fairly average course. In pretty good shape, although some of the tee boxes and fairways could use a little work. Nice clubhouse as well. Pace of play was extremely slow, there were a couple groups that wouldn't let people play through and clogged everything up quite a bit. However, it's a fun course that plays on the easier side, so it's great for a light day out or bringing a newer golfer.
the course was in excelant condition
the weather was great , the fairways were in fine shape the greens were very snooth the tee boxes were fair. the sand traps could do some work.......
nice flat course
Course was nice but as usual slow play by golfers who probably should have spent their money on the driving range or play best ball and not hold up other players especially when the weather looks like it is ready to pour down rain.
Nice Course
Course was in good shape. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely play this course again.
GREAT PUBLIC GOLF COURSE
Great value and beautiful settings. Love the course layout and its maintenance. For a public course, they do a fantastic job at maintaining it. Will definitely come back to The Pines GC.
Great Course for the money!
First time playing this course and it was great. Wasn't sure what to expect with heavy rains the day before but the course drained with no problem except the bunkers. This is a fairly short course and forgiving. I can't complain for the $10 w/ cart that is was! I'll play this again soon.
great bang for your buck
End of the front 9 and beginning of the back 9 had a distict smell of sewage. Sand traps are unplayable if it has rained in the last 3 days. Low cost and good staff make it playable.
