Roses Run Country Club
About
Roses Run Country Club is touted as being northeast Ohio's toughest public golf course. The course has an interesting mix of holes from lengthy par 4s to tough par 3s and reachable par 5s. The front nine is a traditional links layout while the back nine hugs the Cuyahoga River with winding fairways that melt into fast, sloping greens. The layout incorporates a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Roses Run Country Club will require some creative shot-making and the use of every club in your bag. It's a formidable layout that will test even the most skilled players. There is a driving range and practice putting green you can use for warming up, which might be a good idea before taking on this tough course.

Course needs better drainage.
Compared to courses in the valley in the Akron area, I was surprised by how wet this course was as I have played better conditions on some of those courses even this week after the large amount of rain. Water just seems to lay on it without draining. Most of this course was really not playable, as the grass that was not a large puddle was 6-8 inches long.
Nice spring day!
I always enjoy playing Roses Run. Greens were firm and tan or pale in color. Fairways were also tan in color and soft. Kind of surprised since it has been such a wet spring, would have thought the course would have been greener.
Challenging
Course is challenging especially hole # 12, good luck getting there in 2..... Overall good course
Ok course
The course was okay parts of it were under construction while other parts were in good shape the pace of play could've been faster. The scenery was nice will will probably come back.
nice layout
for the time of the season this place was in great shape will play here again in the summer
Rose Run, great course, poor layout!
The golf course itself is great and the staff friendly. Lots of different tee markers and the course is always in great condition. The greens are receptive but have subtle undulations. It is a position golf course. Although fairway are wide, it often pays to be on the correct side of the fairway.
The course meanders through a large housing development with some distance between greens and tees, so it is less suited to walkers. Also, the signposting to holes really does need to be made clearer as it is easy to get to the wrong hole!
That said, Roses Run remains one of my favorite courses in the area. The back nines contrast nicely and each of the par3's are memorable holes. I like it a lot and will return!
This course has great features
Very nice course greens kept up very nice staff super friendly diffidently recommend this course to anyone.
Artifically Tricked Up
This course has changed in the years, has planted trees to prevent scoring. Too many houses. Rough not maintained. Best part is the clubhouse. Carts are sunbeaten . Fairways are deceptive
great value
I wonder if this course was meant to be private. Good layout and great shape. Front nine is links style, but course becomes a different monster at #12. It becomes a very tight shot-makers course. Watch out for the greens. Nearly every green is tiered and you do not want to be on the wrong one. They held and ran pretty true, but a little slow. Like most public courses they needed to move the pin a little more often. Only downside was the prices inside the clubhouse $4 hotdogs and $3 Cokes are a bit much. Will play again though.
Short but challenging
Not overly long course, but presents a few challenges on the tougher holes. You can def score here if you are striking the ball well!
course has great potential
Every year I come back to this course it gets worse in condition. Every year the maintenance to it is less, the fairways are worse, the rough gets thinner. Its a value for the money, the back nine is still a tough nine, but overall the course condition is not good.
Birdies, Pars, Bogeys and "Others" to be had here
I like this track and layout that winds through and around an upscale housing development. This season, we've had inches upon inches of rain. It's affected all courses locally, this one as well. Several fairways saw standing water for days and it shows here.
There are stretches of holes where good shots can equal birdies and pars and some stretches, (12-14) where getting away just a few over should be considered a 'win.' My favorite stretch is the finishing 4 holes. Hole 15 is a birdie/par hole; 16 is a dangerous tee shot that might find a ravine; Your BEST of tee shots on the par-3 17th can easily result in a bogey. Hole 18 is a beautiful finishing hole dogleg right around a large lake.
questionable groupings & service
Played on Sunday, July 28th - Noon Tee time.
Bunkers need attention - but due to rainey season - understandable
Some greens and fairways were in very bad shape.
Front 9 played nicely...Then the issues' arose...
Went into club before starting back nine. Bartender/Server absolutly ridiculous. Stood at the bar and watched her talk with other customers - never once asked if I needed help. Finally after many overpasses - I asked if I could be helped. She said in a minute - walked into the kitchen - came back to answer phone - then went back into kitchen. When she came back walked over to current customers and continued to talk with them. I asked again, and I recieved a natsy look, and was asked..."What do you want". I asked could I have a hot dog...she threw up her hands and said she would be back.....Finally she came back and said no hotdogs were available. I said I was sorry to have botherered her, and walked out.
Once we teed off on #10, we came to #11 and saw that a "5-some" was infront of us. When we got to #12 one of them told us that they had an outing, and could not let us through - we were a two-some. There were 2 fourseomes in front of them that was part of their outing. The back nine took almost 3.5 hrs to play. - Why would they put an outing on the back 9 in front of everyone else. We saw their 13 person outing after our round - and they were not an outing just 13 guys playing the back nine.
This used to be a nice course - but after this expierience, I doubt I will ever play there again.
Not quite sure what to make of this one
The front and back nines are completely different here. The front is wide open and not all that challenging whereas the back is much more difficult. What I don't like is the target golf aspect in play on several holes on the back nine. Blind tee shots are one thing but blind tee shots where you know an iron off the tee is your only option....not a fan of that. Course condition is good, greens a little chopped up but this seemed to me to be more a result of golfers unwillingness to take the time to repair ball marks.
Great Value
Overall the course was in good shape. Course has great landscaping and fairways and rough is maintained nicely. Only grip is the bunkers are in bad shape on certain holes. The greens are firm and slow. If they rolled the greens so the are faster and fix the bunkers I would have given it a 5. For $15 I can't complain though.
Very Nice
When I was researching the course, I saw some fairly short holes and a slope rating of 118 from the white tees. I thought, Ok, it should be easy to score and a lot of fun. Boy was I wrong. Don't be misled. This course requires you to hit good shots. Several holes have OB left AND right. Lots of "well placed" water hazards and two-tiered greens. The greens are fast and roll very well. My only complaint was that they don't have a dress code. There were some very poorly dressed people on that course.
back 9 is tough!
I've played this course dozens of times over the years. It's a tremendous value for the money, but it does have a couple tricked holes on the front. The back 9 can definitely give you fits as 12-14 are real tests and the greens on 16-18 can be three putt havens if you aren't careful.
Beautiful course.
Great value. Greens were in terrific shape. A couple of holes which are unusual.
Tough Track
This course is in very good shape and very challenging! I had a great time!
Very nice layout
First time here, drove 45 minutes. The layout is very nice. The greens were in very nice shape. fast and held real well. fairways maintained. The tee boxes need a little work. Hole 12 was a real special hole. Very nice clubhouse and good Brewskies specials. I will come back here at least once a year.
