Roses Run Country Club
About
Roses Run Country Club is touted as being northeast Ohio's toughest public golf course. The course has an interesting mix of holes from lengthy par 4s to tough par 3s and reachable par 5s. The front nine is a traditional links layout while the back nine hugs the Cuyahoga River with winding fairways that melt into fast, sloping greens. The layout incorporates a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Roses Run Country Club will require some creative shot-making and the use of every club in your bag. It's a formidable layout that will test even the most skilled players. There is a driving range and practice putting green you can use for warming up, which might be a good idea before taking on this tough course.

Early season
It was early season. But In the summer I’m sure it’s a pretty fun track when it’s nice and green and the greens prolly roll quicker. Still fun for $40
Pretty darn good
This place is really coming along well, I’m glad I live so close by.
Great
I had a fantastic time playing at Roses Run! The course is in excellent condition, well-maintained fairways and smooth greens. The layout is challenging, fun and beautiful.
One of the coolest things about this course is its history—it used to be a horse race track, which adds a unique charm to the layout. Located next to the Kent State Airport and Cuyahoga River, small air planes will occasionally fly around while you play golf along the river. AMAZING! It’s a great place to play if you’re looking for a mix of challenge, history, and scenic surroundings.
The staff was welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. I’m excited to see how the new ownership continues to improve things. Definitely a must-play for any golfer in the area!
Beautiful course
Course was absolutely beautiful, clubhouse is very unique and the staff was very friendly and helpful, even remembered my name by the time I made the turn! Absolutely amazing and difficult layout. Conditions were absolutely phenomenal for being October 30th. No complaints and will definitely be back!
Nice course but...
Haven't played Roses Run in over 10 years and now I know why. Course was in nice shape and was absolutely beautiful this time of year. Problem is that it played extremely slow in the middle of the week on a Tuesday in the Fall. It should not take 3.5 hrs just to play 13 holes. There was no ranger or anybody trying to speed up play but the entire back nine was just a mess on every hole and never should have gotten to that point to begin with. I called the clubhouse to try to get things moving and was told it was my fault because I was playing solo. Pretty sad when I had foursomes that were caught up and stacked up behind me even. I ended up just picking up. Wasn't even offered a refund for the back 9.
Slow
They need a starter or ranger. Pace of play was brutal. 4-5 groups on the same hole at one time is absurd. There was also a 6-some in front of us. Easy to lose interest really quickly.
Slow as Molasses
Played Roses Run yesterday and going back won’t be a thing. It’s unfortunate, the course could be great. Our round took more than 5 hours and it felt MUCH longer.
The first green was the warning sign. I think my partner and I repaired 5 ball marks each and we could have been there much longer.
We had a group of 6 in front of us from holes 13-18, and no rangers watching play at all.
Hidden Gem
One of the best kept courses around.. Fairways,Greens and Tee Boxes are gorgeous even with the lack of rain. Definitely a must play.
Superb staff!
I can’t say enough about how friendly and courteous the staff is here. The course was in great shape and we enjoyed a fantastic day. The bartender was absolutely amazing! Attentive and fun!
Fun day
I played as a single behind several foursomes and the pace of play was really good which is surprising. The course had some really nice holes and was glad the started gave me some strategy pointers when I started which helped a lot. The only real downer was that the greens has just been aerated and sanded but they did a great job and the greens were older pretty good. I will definitely play here again this year and congrats to some really nice people running the show at this course.
Amazing Course
Beautiful course in Stow that is well maintained and taken care of. Staff was very friendly and the owners will go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. The new owners are committed to improving / maintaining this wonderful course for all to enjoy! 10/10 would recommend!
Overbooked & Overpriced
11:08 tee time turned into 11:35. Claimed a 24 man travel league was out on course already. First two carts had straps that wouldn’t lock so our golf clubs crashed onto the concrete twice. Third and only cart left to pick literally drove 3-4 mph. But with the pace of play it didn’t matter. After 14 holes it was 4:10 PM and threw in the towel. Have played on the weekends prior and looked forward to playing again. Hopefully this was a one time occurrence.
Great course but terrible pace of play
2nd time playing this course and I really love the layout. The course forces you to think about your tee shot and play smart course management. Course is in great shape and greens rolled great! The only thing that soured this last experience was pace of play. It took over 3 hours to finish 9 holes…we ended up having to stop after hole 13 because we were 5 hours in. The starter said there was a backup because people showed up late…my hope was a ranger would speed folks along to catch up but if there was a ranger out there, they didn’t have much success. Hard to say what caused it, but it definitely was disappointing. That being said, I will play there again as I like the course and assuming this was a “one off”
Hello, u000005297077. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Roses Run Country Club.
