Same old story
This is a very nice course with friendly staff. It's in great shape and fun to play. However it was loaded (as so many courses are these days) with foursomes of young men who were putzing around oblivious to the golfers behind them. No sense of cart management or ready golf - probably lots of beer involved. A round of golf doesn't have to move at a snail's pace but when there is no ranging and the folks playing are ignoring all the rules of etiquette it's not much fun. We left after 14 holes - we figured it would be dark before we finished.
Nice Facility
Great course owned by the city of Stow. Well maintained course with great greens. Nice range across the street and above average food in the club house. Very friendly staff. Play from the tips if you're a long hitter.
Good course
Excellent fairways and greens, not the longest but plenty of trees.Just play the back tees if you can hit the ball to make it more interesting.
The back 9 is a must play great variety of holes.
Great public course
Overall this course was excellent. The only thing that took some getting used to was how fast the greens are.
Course in great shape
Great value. Couse in great shape, price is right and pace of play outstanding.
Nice course and played quickly.
Course was in good shape for this early in the season. Grounds crew working on the details. Played 18 holes in 3 hours.
Great course and fair but challenging layout
Had an excellent time golfing as a twosome with my daughter. Played on a Sun. afternoon in about 4:10 so the pace wasn't bad although we had to wait a few times.
Very friendly starter and staff. Good value for a fair but challenging course.
slow play
I left after 9 holes because the pace of play was unbearable. Course was in nice shape but couldn't even enjoy it because I had to wait ten minutes between shots.
Good course for a mid handicap... Just fun if you are better!
If you live in the Stow, Kent, Hudson area, you know this is a reliable course... Great staff, range to warm up on, and typically easy to book a tee time or just rock up... the only down side is that Fox Den has one hokey hole with a sharp right, but other than that if you are a mid-handi, like most golfers out there then you should definitely give this course a try or keep supporting it if you are local.
Fun Golf Course
It was cold and clear and a little wet but the course played true and fast
Neat Course...you will enjoy
Just do it.Its a good and some what tuff course for 6200 yards.
Good Course, Not Great
Played the course recently, and enjoyed it a lot. There's a couple really fun holes, and a bunch of average ones. The only hole that really stood out was number 5, which is a gimmicky par 5 that requires about a 7 iron off the tee to the bend of the 90* dogleg, and then about a 240-270 uphill second shot. I personally was not a fan of the hole, it seems odd to me to be forced to hit 2 target short to mid irons on a par 5. Reaching the green in two is all but impossible unless you can hit a 3 wood like a touring pro. And, regardless of what tee box you are teeing from, the second shot will be the same distance. Doesn't seem appropriate for someone playing the red or gold tees to have a severe uphill 240+ yard second shot on a par 5. All in all, the course was well maintained, and greens were as well. For the time of the year, the course was in great condition. I would recommend playing here if it's convenient, as it's well worth checking out once. This probably won't become a destination for you, but it's a definite couple times a year course, and I will return. But, not after playing some other courses for the first time before I return. GolfNow has some great deals on the hot deals for Fox Den, so definitely take advantage of them and get the most value out of this course.
Well Run Golf Course
The starter runs a tight ship, but in a very friendly/professional way. A lot of courses in the area, especially on weekends let's golfers do whatever they want and it leads to a bad experience. This is a non-issue here. They also have a nice driving range across the street and a great pro shop with good food. The course was in good condition for this late in the year in Ohio. I definitely recommend.
This is a fun course to play, good variety of holes
This course has a nice variety of holes and some are challenging due to their length and slope of the greens. Holes 11, 12 and 13 can easily result in a boogey
An enjoyable course
I last played this course 30 years ago and was pleased to see the changes in its maturation with trees grown in etc. Plenty of surprisingly rolling topography and some reasonably challenging but fair holes of golf. A good assortment of hazards - sand, water, woods, etc and some lengthy holes (200 yd +/- ) par 3 give you lots to think about on shot placement and club selection. On this day the greens had just been punched and top dressed as is common in the Fall. The greens couldn't be played and judged fairly and that kept us from giving it 5 stars. Oh -- and the snack bar is much more than that -- way more food selection than the usual golf course hot dog and lots of beverages including several craft beers on tap, wine and more. Check it out!
Sunday Afternoon Golfing
Teed off 1:30 Sunday afternoon. Couple of outings going on which made pace a bit slow. Usually this course moves well and 3.5 hours is normal. Today's 18 hole round (4-some) took just under 5 hours. Course is always in nice condition and the people who work there always make you feel welcome. Course, price, value all make for a place you want to return and play again.
Nice Course
Course was in good shape. Course gets a lot of play similar to metro parks course. Fairways were a little hard so you received a lot of roll. I had a 60 degree carry 90 yards and roll out 120 off the back of green in the water. Staff was awesome.
Course was in nice shape with no restrictions for carts.
Course was well maintained and close to where I live.
great course but a bit pricey
fun andchanllenging course that i enjoyed playing but can be a bit pricey.
