Golfer Reviews
Rain, rain and more rain
My review has to be taken with a grain of salt. We played on a course that was completely saturated, with standing water in nearly every fairway. However, we knew that going in, so that’s no fault of the course. We enjoyed our round and will definitely be back.
Not worth $70+
I played here solo on Saturday, July 11. I was able to get on and play right away and several groups let me play through without issue. The one staff that I saw working was friendly enough, but definitely needed some help with balancing the bar, kitchen, and check-in.
The course was not in terrible shape, but for the cost of $70+, I expect a lot more. The greens were terribly slow and felt like they hadn’t been mowed in a couple days. It has rained a ton here lately so I can’t blame them if it was too wet to get out to mow. The cart paths are 90% or more unusable l. Aside from being just mud paths, the concrete/gravel paths were so worn and broken up that it was smoother to just drive in the grass.
The fairway was non-existent. Again, lots of rain so I understand if they can’t mow.
All in all, I would give this course another shot, as long as it isn’t as wet, but I’ve heard from several that the course conditions don’t get much better.
Very poor conditions
The course is in extremely bad shape. Many of the greens are all sand. The ones that do have a little green on them still do not putt right. Seems to be some disease going through the greens. I will not ever play there again. The way things look, they could be out of business soon.
Hickory Review
Hickory used to be a playable course. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad either. We’ll, it has changed. The course is in the worst condition I have ever seen. The greens are patchy, making it impossible to putt accurately. The fairways are okay, but a bit too tall. The tee boxes are hideous. The only reason to golf here is to practice playing on some kind of course. The price is too high for how unplayable it is. 14-25$ for 18 holes would be worth it if the greens were in good shape and the fairways were not being excavated.
Greens look like my grandmas knee caps, all cracked. Fairways look like they do nonstop control burns and don’t water the grass.
Very dry. Greens in terrible shape. Fairways in terrible shape. Tee boxes in terrible shape. There were cracks and dry spots over every green.
TERRIBLE DECLINE FROM EARLIER TIMES
I played this course often in the 1970’s. What a disappointment today! The only vegetation on the course is weeds and very nice trees. Weeds were 2 inches high on the tee boxes. Greens were burned out.
Green fees for 9 holes were $1 more than a very nice neighboring course.
I feel sorry for the very nice clubhouse staff. They were top notch!
Needless to say, I won’t be back. Sorry!
Tee boxes and greens need some help
Tee boxes needed cut and were full of weeds and crab grass. Greens were really bumpy and alot of dead areas. With a little attention, it could be nice. Nice layout, but I wouldn't go back.
