About
The 797 Elks Golf Club, formerly known as Quail Lakes Golf Course, has changed more than its name since first opening in 1961. When the course was up for sale in the 1980s, the trustees of the adjacent Elks 797 Lodge purchased the property in order to keep a public golf course for the community. The front nine was created well before the back nine was completed. Although the two nines provide a vastly different look and feel, they provide plenty of variety that manages to meld seamlessly into a great round. The ever-changing landscape adds to the course's diversity. Mature trees and tall grasses line the fairways, making accuracy essential, and you'll also find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. There are definitely some challenges in store but with careful course management, you'll be rewarded with some birdie opportunities.

Bargain Course
If you are looking for a casual round to just go out and hit this could be the place. Has a lot of challenge to your golf game from any tee. Staff is great and laid back. Not your typically stuffy course. Dandelions riddled the grass but could be cleaned up easily. Bunkers are non existent which makes tough. If they removed them prob would be ideal if not going to upkeep. Overall not a bad course, I enjoyed it.
A little rough
A lot of the fairways were rough and looked about the same as the rough. Most of the greens were a little long and slow, and a few had damaged areas which couldn't be putted on.
In defense of the course, the last couple of years have been tough on it due to a broken irrigation system, which is now fixed. It's a work in process and still not a bad course to play especially during the week days.

The greens had dead spots on them and instead of putting the holes in a spot that wouldn't be affected by them they had them right by it
Awful condition
Fairway landing areas are devoid of grass. Some greens are so diseased and pitted they are unplayable. None of the bunkers have sand in them. This course needs a lot of work.
Course Condition
The Course is in the worse shape I have ever seen it. I will not play it again until it makes a lot of improvements. I would not play it in the condition it is in now for ten dollars even that how poor the conditions are.
Decent shape for November
For the money it's a good course to play, the greens are still a bit rough especially on the back 9. The fairways and rough are pretty much the same, but over all the price point and fact you can play 18 in 3 hours makes it a good value and we had a great time playing . The staff is great and great food available.
Hidden Gem
Stopped off on the way home from a trip visiting family to get in a quick 9 with the lady. We both loved the layout and the staff was too notch
Great course for the price
Very error friendly course. Wide open for the big hitters. Great course for the money. One of my favorites. Play there multiple times per year.
Some greens are messed up (mowers) and sand traps are poor (you might save a lot of money by letting the sand traps become green traps and just mow them. Everything else was good.
Greens are the worst I’ve played
They course is so badly maintained that you will find basically holes in the greens. The greens have so many bumps and chunks taken out not to mention the dead areas on them. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if your expecting to be playing on a good surface. I love the island green hole tho
