very hilly layout on some holes
Interesting layout - some holes seem more suitable for sledding rather than golf (1, 9, 10, 18 (not as much)- same hill). disappointed with the condition of the greens - rained the night before - so understand they were slow and variable depending on how fast they dried, but the ball marks were everywhere. Fairways somewhat better, tee boxes pretty bad. Not really worth the price.
Excellent Course
Course was in really good shape and pace of play was excellent. A little on the high side with regards to greens fees but worth it for a well maintained course with great pace of play.

Good but could be great
The course has a nice layout and is in good condition. But for a course of this caliber, the greens were very slow. Upscale course like this should have similar quality greens. Some of the county courses I played this summer had better greens than this. Too slow and it looked like they didnt cut the greens recently. Once they cut them and make them roll faster, this course will truly live upto its name.
Thank you for your comments. The greens speed is generally very fast this time of the year, unfortunately we had a lot of rain over the past few days that slowed the speed down. We have been hand mowing the greens as well for the past few weeks as we waited on our new greens mower to arrive. glad to report that the greens a rolling much faster and back to normal.

Pretty Good
At first, the course seems very basic. After playing it now for a few times, it’s grown on me. It’s not a bad track at all. #1 is a great opening hole. #2 is awful. #10 is a fun hole, but play it smart. #18 is a great finishing hole.
Course is in pretty good shape. Beaten up tee boxed, fairways were very good. Bunkers were very good, nice a fluffy.

Good conditions but.....
I’ve played NYCC many times over the years. Course is in very good shape given the increased amount of play. But....if you have concerns about Covid try another course that takes its protocols more serious. After I was given my cart, then the attendant asked me to step aside so he could disinfect. These carts should be disinfected thoroughly BEFORE they are garaged at night. There was also zero enforcement for masks in the staging area and most players were not wearing them. It’s a nice track with good greens at a fair price but be forewarned. Also, no single rider carts. They will provide a divider but only on request.
This course was beautiful.
Every time I play here this course has been in great shape. The views from each Tee Box, the tenderness of the fuzzy fairways and of course the feel on every green (which is rolled to perfection every time I play here). It is a well kept golf course with very friendly staff. I would highly recommend a day of golf at The New York Country Club to anyone who truly enjoys the game.
A Good Challenge but....
*The Pace of Play is slow and there are no Rangers to help the Course.
*No Sand on the Carts to refill divots.
*Other than the above two issues the Course was enjoyable and challenge
*The Early Tee Times Rate is not a Value.
Thank you for your comments. Our standard pace of play is 4 hours and 30 minutes. We do schedule a ranger 7 days a week. The ranger is on the course moving the pace of play.
We took the divot mix out of the carts for sanitary reasons. Our grounds crew takes care of all divots throughout the day.

Excellent track (few a few oddities)
Overall this is a great track and in great condition. Totally worth playing if you haven’t tried it. Conditions always quality. Pace is good. Greens roll well and true.
Here’s the thing: a few holes are a little wack: #9 straight up a hill. #10 straight back down.aside from#1 and 18 the inner par fives are annoying and tough.
That said some amazingly well designed holes here and always fun track to play

Best course in Rockland!
This course is a great time every time out here. The course is playing outstanding and staff couldn’t be anymore helpful to me and my group. Everything they are doing to keep golf fun and safe during COVID-19 is on par. Love this course and would recommend to anyone looking to play a fun round at a slightly challenging course.

Country club hospitality- conditions and pace of play. This is the best value in New York. Country club feel and professionally run. Would put this on the “must do “ list if you are in the tri state area !!

not worth the money
This was a bad round. First, they had people sharing carts. Some staff wore masks, some did not. First tee- we witnessed a group with a "member" get inserted between two foursomes. Everybody lied about what was going on. There was a 10:20 group that got off fine. we were 10: 30. The starter allowed an foursome to go off at 10:25 in between the 2 booked times. They did not have a tee time. They "tipped " the starter and messed up the entire list of groups behind us too. result...2 hours and 50 min for 9 holes on a Friday.
One positive is, after complaining, we were offered a 9 hole rain check and we all took it. We now HAVE to go back and play there but It will be the last time
Kirk, I would like to thank you for your comments. Every review is a learning experience for us. I am sincerely apologetic that your round did not go as planned. I would like to comment on all of your points.
1) We do allow golfers to share carts but we also provide a screen divider upon request that can be placed in the golf cart separating the driver and passenger.
2) We have a very strict policy for all of our outside staff to wear gloves and masks at all times
3) Your group was placed behind a squeeze time, members are not allowed to have special tee time privilege's and the starter was not paid in anyway to squeeze the foursome in.
4) A round at NYCC averages 4.5 hours. Unfortunately, your group was caught on a slower day. Very rare but that does happen.
5) As soon as the ranger came out he assessed the situation and made the necessary adjustments to the groups ahead of yours to speed up play. He also offered refreshments to your group for the inconvenience and also offered to give you a 9 hole raincheck.
It is my hope that you take us up on the raincheck, and give us another opportunity to show you what a round at the New York Country Club is all about.

Thank you for your review, you are correct that it did rain a lot the night before you played, the greens were rolling a little slower than normal. The tee boxes where just aerated and cleaned, they are in much better condition. We do hope to see you up at the club again soon.
