Spook Rock Golf Course

We live a few miles away and my kids are obsessed with the golf camps and the Junior PGA programs. The staff are too notch and inspire kids to love the game from an early age. The course is always in great shape!

Only major complaint is the bunkers. There's no sand and they're full of rocks. When it rains some of them turn in to ponds. Course layout looks pretty straightforward but its more challenging than you would think. Greens are usually pretty consistent. Pace of play is better in the early morning but is usually slows down as the day goes on(approaching 5 hrs!) Course is pretty flat so it's definitely walkable. Would recommend trying this course

Great round of golf. Greens were in very good condition with lots of breaks. Pace of play kept moving. Lots of dog legs. Great day

Love playing Spook Rock, course is fun, challenging but but not over the top. Staff is second to none. Recommend to anyone who's never played.

Played today and course was in wonderful shape. The greens were much faster than usual and made the round a lot more challenging. I would like to see the greens like this all year. I’ve played at Spook Rock for almost 40 years and the greens have been a lot slower than when I first started playing here. Today they were much quicker and we loved how the ball was rolling. To me the greens are what makes the course so special and the past few seasons I have not been happy with them because of slow roll. At this time the fairways are really beautiful and today was a most enjoyable day.

The course is in excellent condition. Very well maintained

There needs to be more supervision on the course moving golfers along. Front nine is generally pretty efficient and then the back nine (particularly at hole 11 and therefore 12) slow the entire back nine taking way longer than it should.

On a busy Saturday perhaps a Ranger could be present halfway down the cart path on hole number 11 this person can move people along and help golfers. Find their shots coming from the blind tee boxes on what is otherwise a really interesting hole, beautiful hole.

Playing this course for over 40 years. Still interesting after over 1000 rounds.

Really a great layout, condition excellent, staff pleasant and cordial.

Pace of play acceptable even without rangers.

Course was in amazing shape even after all the rain. Greens rolled constantly across the board. Jim and his staff are helpful and courteous always with a hello and a smile. Still my favorite in the Bergen Rockland area.

I joined their membership for $99. Played a bunch of times this summer. The layout has always been a great quality and price. There aren’t two holes on the course that look the same. Some really challenging par threes. The undulation of the greens is fun and the quality is always good anytime I’ve played it.

Excellent public track

I’ve been playing Spook Rock for 5years. The staff is great. Always friendly and helpful. A great course for the price. Only downside is as a local course you get people to dont know basic golf etiquette which can be frustrating. The halfway bar is getting better with food options but could be better.

I love this course. Great track and if you pay for a seasonal card the price is right. That being said, the sand traps need work. Not enough sand in most traps and some are unplayable. I know it is a big expensive ask but a sand trap renovation would make this course great again.

Fairways and greens are maintained and in great condition. Greens a bit slow but in good condition. Staff is excellent. I play here regularly and will continue to do so, ut those traps. Please!

I think the layout is terrific. The personnel are friendly snd helpful. I’m disappointed by the condition of the course. The greens are very bumpy and the grass is sparse. The traps are terrible… no sand and very rocky.

The rough needs work to be more uniform around the course.

I’ve been playing at this course for years and it’s a great track. The only real complaint about the whole course is the condition of the bunkers. Even three and four years later no improvements. Most of the traps are dirt and rocks with very little to no sand at all. If they would fix this one thing this course would be a must play for the price. I’m sure it’s tough being a town owned course but it still no excuse. Fix the bunkers and this course is great.
