Good Public Course - - Extremely Slow Play
I enjoyed the course and thought it was in really good shape so there was some good value for $30 on a weekend morning. However, they overbooked tee times to where it was stacked up on the 1st tee box and they were 30 minutes behind scheduled tee times at 9:30 am. I found myself waiting 3-5 minutes on every tee box, and then had to wait about 3-5 minutes for the green to clear to hit my approach shot. That's not how golf is meant to be played.
Good pace of play
The pace of play was good and condition of the tee boxes and greens were better than average.
This course is in excellent condition.
Westwood Park is is great shape. I have never seen it look better. The food and clubhouse facilities are also excellent.
overall a good value
course is in pretty good shape which is challenging in OK. Very playable. Only real complaint is there are hardly any water stations - maybe two on the entire course which is way too few in this heat.
Good condition due to over average rainfall
The course is in good condition, fairways could use a little work. The driving range is horrible and the range balls are like rocks. But for 18 holes and a cart on Saturday morning for $30 you can't beat it!
Good course to walk and enjoy.
Played from the tips. It was in great shape. Greens rolling very smooth. Wind was howling which increased the difficulty. Got a discounted fee thru Golfnow at the past minute. Staff was very friendly . Good experience!
GREAT PLACE TO TAKE YOUNG GOLFERS
I TOOK MY GRANDSON WITH ME, WE HAD A GREAT DAY.
I WILL TAKE HIM AGAIN.
Great course
Course is in great shape nice greens! Difficulty level depends on choice of tees.
Great course for the money!
The staff is really friendly and the course isn't shabby at all.
For Late Spring - Not Bad at All
Greens in fair condition due to fertilizer and sand but for the last day of April, I liked it.
Simply a waste
Me and a friend went to this course for my birthday at my request. I wanted to go to this course because I played there many times when I was younger. What a waste! The course was in aweful condition, the layout was boring, and worst of all the employees were rude. I am not sure what part of their job as a city course pro shop attendant gives them the idea that they know all and everyone else is dumb, but they definitely lost a couple of frequent golfers that were looking for a course closer to home. I am not sure how they get returning customers.
Another thing about the course.. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt on the shape of their course because it is only mid April, but I went to silverhorn the day after and their course was in great shape! The greens were actually grass and not sandier than their bunkers. Hope others have a better experience .
Dissatisfied
I had played Westwood many times while I was a student at OU, so I was familiar with the layout of the course.
One thing that I have never enjoyed about Westwood is the absence of ball washers anywhere on the course. If you play here, be prepared.
Compared to what I've experienced, this round was terrible. The fairways did not appear to have received attention recently and were dead and dry. The greens were not taken care of by others, divots were everywhere.
The back nine was empty of players at our tee time, but the starter would not let my playing partner and I start on no. 10, even though there was one group of 4, two groups of 2, and a single player in front of us. Naturally this slowed the pace of play down to a crawl. Some holes would take 20 minutes or more to finish.
I will go back to Westwood, but will not go out of my way to play there in the future.
Hitting out of dirt.
Much of the course was barren. 70% of my fairway shots were off of dirt not grass. The greens where air-rated and covered in sand, there was now way to line up on your putt.
Nice place to play.
This was the first time playing Westwood. The staff was very courteous and friendly and was able to get on right away. Overall this is a very nice course and I would reccomend it to anyone.
This course is in pretty good condition for this time of the year.
While the course is not too long, it does have some interesting holes that require some consideration of shot selection. The dog legs are not severe. There are some holes with water, but most are easily handled.
Enjoyed the course
All courses look bad this time of year and I am sure it will look better when winter is over.
The course is fun to play. Greens were in good shape .
Our round was a little long due to tiresome in front of us. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great shape. Enjoyed round.
Decent winter course. Little bit high for twilight rate.
The course was in good playing condition. Greens were fast and firm.
Great Public Course!
The pace of play really depends on how busy the course is. 18 holes can take as little as three or as many as five hours to complete. The staff does a very good job to keep the average around four hours for a group of 4. For as busy and popular as this course seems to be, the course is maintained really well. Things can really dry-out in the heat of Oklahoma summers, but they do well to keep the greens playable and looking good. The length and overall design is sufficiantly challenging for all skill levels. Especially when the wind starts to kick-up! I have played this course 9 times this year. Always a good time! Would definately reccomend playing this course!
Great course for the money
It is a Par 70 but lots of par 3s and 4 par 5s. It makes it an unique course and allows for low scores even for short hitters when you are striking it well.
