Let me introduce you to my hometown course...
I enjoy playing my hometown course, which I rated as easy because moderately errant shots still have possibility. You start with an easy par 5, and a short par three to build some confidence. But it's not a cupcake, and most every hole long is bad. I guess what I like most is that since moving to Oklahoma 7 years ago I have seen this course get progressively better. It's well managed, with the friendliest staff. When you come back the guys at the proshop will at least recognise you, and start working on remembering your name. They are exceptional. The greens and fairways have really gotten to be quite good, probably the best of the moderately priced courses. And green fees are good all day! Oh, by the way... 18 is a par 4 that you can't quit on early - a really big number is possible there.
semi-average course with nominal level of challenge.
This is one of the few courses I try to play (third choice) when I can't get a tee time on the average courses in the city area or when I want to get home a little early. I usually get bored after the 11th. hole however. It has small, nice greens, usual Oklahoma public course fairways and almost no trees except on holes 10, 11 and 12. Bunkers are simple, large grained sand and do not come into play often with my game. It provides what I consider a "target golf" round where I can use nothing but mid to short irons, maybe a couple of holes for the driver. I usually take my beginner friends to this course because it is relatively short and play them from the white tees.
