Hate following a tournament...
Tournament day and evidently they had some late additions so we get backed up 20 plus minutes for our tee time then a five plus hour round with no marshalls etc on the course. Also power cart prices run 20/rider (higher than most) and if you are a single it's 25 to ride even though you can ride double.... pandemic has good to some industries including golf courses and these guys are taking advantage.
Nice older muni
This course looked and felt like a lot of older municipal courses around the country that were built in the same era. It's not too long, but long enough, and you can get in trouble if you get out of position. The conditions were good for early spring; a little soft in a few spots, but generally good. The greens and fairways were great. The pace was very slow; they were running about 1/2 an hour behind on tee times, and it was almost a 5 hour round.
Drainage
I know it's been raining but, I wish the course had better drainage.
It would make course top rated.
Plugged fairways surprise!
I played Friday and had such a great time I played again the following Monday, I love this course!
I was surprised by the plugged fairways staff was busily collecting in alternative rows so relief from stance or ball in the plugs was easy. I essentially had to play winter rules in October. Staff as always was friendly and gracious about my disappointment, typically I’ll see a warning when I booked it, I didn’t see any, I do look this time of year every time. Quick round was able to play solo.
Interesting Track, something different
If Eastmoreland and Glendover had a baby it would Forest Hills. Lots of trees and lots of elevation changes. Decided to play somewhere new and found a good deal at Forest Hills. A double dogleg 6th was the highlight of the front nine for me.
I thought the back had some fun holes with small greens requiring accuracy.
My only complaint is the pace of play got bogged down at times and there wasn't a marshall on the course to keep things moving but it was a nice fall day so it was manageable to deal with.
