Great layout, friendly club staff.
Had good time there although it was bit too windy that makes game much tougher, good challenge though.
Here is a special note to the GolfNow staff: due computer/or program my reservation for 1 got entered 3 times (3 single reservation last), I hope GOLNOW won’t charge me 3 times.
Easy course
Didn't lose any balls, pretty easy course and it has a friendly staff. I would recommend this place.
Not worth the trip
Not worth the drive or effort, the cheap prices come with rough course conditions and foul-mouthed “members” annoyed to have strangers to their course. One lady actually teed off into me while I was waiting in the fairway for the green to clear and then screamed at me because I wasn’t a member there. I am happy I am not and will not return.
Slow
The first 2 holes the group behind us had in to us. On the second time and not hearing 4 either time, my wife called the club house. The group in front of us where walking and a group of 2 riders and 2 walkers in front of them. It took just over 5 hours to play 18. Waiting for 5 minutes at least on every tee box. For the amount of money spent to play it wasnt worth it.
Disappointed
We booked two phatboy bikes last night and found out this morning, the afternoon guy didn't bother to note it and they gave them to two other people this morning.
Instead of trying to make it right, the "couldn't be bothered" guy at the proshop didn't offer any apologies or pro-rate our normal carts for their screw up.
This will be my last visit to Forest Hills based on poor customer service. Plenty of other courses out there
Nice Course
I saw a TV Commercial for the course and the course lived up to its billing. It was a really good track with a lot of creative holes
Fastest round yet
I read one of play issues with this course and whereas we had to wait on a number of shots on the back nine, the round still took less than four hours by a good bit. Greens were smooth. Lots of blind shots and seriously undulating fairways. As an avid walker of courses, this one was up there as far as challenge but not too bad at all.
Could Have Been Worse. Could Have Been Better.
Is describe this course as a “members first” course, meaning even though it’s a public course, the members dominate the course and ownership has seemed to have designed it that way.
Pace of Play was slow because there was the men’s league in front of me. Not a huge deal, I get it. The course isn’t going to tell their members to speed up. My round was 4 hours 40 minutes, but the course is so short/compact it felt a lot longer.
I started solo but after one hole was caught by two members. They told me that the members there book all the morning tee times at least a week in advance, so basically everyday the pace of play is slow because the men’s and women’s leagues, combined with regular members, book all the tee times.
There’s no “rules” out on the course, so eventually two more members caught up with us and my solo outing turned into a group of 5. Not a huge deal because pace of play was so slow, but the two “new” folks weren’t considerate of my golf. Twice I was chipping into the green and one of them was standing on the green directly on my line, and didn’t move til they had finished their putt.
I get it that the course has seemed to gear more towards the members, as the members I golfed with said they could basically do whatever they wanted on the course. That’s a decision each course can make and I’m not arguing with that decision.
But I don’t suggest booking a tee time there if you aren’t a member.
