Santiam Golf Club

About
Santiam Golf Club was started by a group of seven men that had a dream of creating an affordable community golf course. The course has a straightforward, classic design that will appeal to players of all skill levels. The layout features straight holes and gradual doglegs that wrap around tree-lined roughs. The landing areas are generous though errant tee shots will be met by stands of mature trees and if you are really off your game, your shot may cross over into the next fairway since many of the holes run parallel to each other. A narrow creek winds alongside several holes and there are a few small ponds that come into play. Steep sand traps also protect the subtly contoured greens. Santiam G.C. has a fair amount of challenges but it is player-friendly enough for beginners and casual golfers to enjoy.

Perfect day
Got early morning tee time sandwiched between members. They were great and helped us out a couple times with some course info. Grounds were well kept and the grounds crew were friendly as well. Had lunch after round and food and waitress were both good.
Course was fun but fairways were too wet
The greens are in good shape and fun to putt on except for the sand maintenance. Parts of the fairway were actually muddy with all the rain lately. Carts only on cart path always makes for an inconvenience and slower play.
Wet.but still plays well
Good course this time of year every course is soaked, but still fun not pushed at all. Plenty of time for our group to try to find the sunk balls
Very nice course
The people were very personable and the course is enjoyable
Great coarse always have fun playing here
This is my third time this year playing this course. All three times we're great. The course is maintained very well the greens are very nice. The people are very friendly.
Fun little course
Played 18 with the wife during a camping trip to Silver Falls State Park. The staff was very friendly. The golf course is extremely flat and not very long but there are enough trees and water hazards to keep it interesting. There are several doglegs and choosing the correct spot on the fairways is important. Overall a decent golf experience while in the Salem area.
This course is fun to play.
The layout is great and the course is walkable. The fairways were a little wet for this time of the year. Thus, grass clippings were clumps in the fairways.
18 at Santiam
Beautiful day, great course conditions. Very enjoyable round of golf for my wife and I.
First time playing
Nice course good condition poor pace of play I'm not the best but alot of old foursomes taking their time
Great course but not much in Salem to compare it to.
Considering the rain we've had the course was sloppy but we'll maintained
Give credit to its staff for still a great golfing experience.
booking
everything was fairly good except they decided to move the Golf Now people to later tee times so they could get their regulars off together. My tee time was 8:22 am and the course said Golf Now booked it for 8:45 am, but my conformation said 8:22, so that is when I played behind a group of 5 and 4.
Good winter course
Greens were awesome... fairways didn't plug much considering the recent rain. Course is in great shape but not too challenging... could use some slope to the greens. Not much for food/breakfast snacks etc.
Fun Golf Course!
Had a great winter round of golf on an excellent winter day. The greens are in excellent condition especially considering all the recent rains. Sadly, the pro shop is closed Monday thru Thursday to save money. Obviously they are experiencing financial problems, so I hope more people will play this course. It would be so sad to see this course close down. So, like the ad on TV says, Go Play!
A perfectly challengine handicapper course!
We snagged a "Hot Deal" tee time and saved BIG, and played 18 holes on a very well laid out course (albeit the design or markings to next hole was a bit confusing on a few holes), but overall a beautiful course with perfect greens was just right for a couple of 25+ handicappers. Recommended to all levels, with just enough sand and hazards to keep it interesting.
Good times
My son and I have had a great times at this coarse. Everyone has been very helpful and easy to play around. The coarse is in great shape and fun to play. I would recommend it to all.
Thanks
They have poor tee planning , put two twosomes behind two foursomes. Stood around watching people golf all day .
I would make sure you don't try to play this on a weekend . Maybe during the week it would be great !
Not conducive to dewsweepers
Earliest tee times at Santiam are 7am and at this time in the summer you should be able to tee off at 6 or earlier. Many/most courses let people go out early and just show respect to the grounds crew, but they were not at all flexible about this.
Very good greens
Santiam is a nice course and easily walkable. The greens were in great shape, and so were the fairways.
Nice greens
Played with my grandson, love it here, from whites to blues..very playable with a slice..lol.
