Silver Lake Golf Course

As u see in my stat ratings, there are so many wonderful things I love about this course!

Starts the minute I get there when I see Steve the starter - he’s a fun dude and also very professional.

The course is in fantastic shape and I commend the folks who worked so hard to keep it up during the pandemic.

I played there twice, both as a single, and I was paired with very friendly people.

In fact everybody there is welcoming. There is one hole drives me nuts but since I was fortunate to par it today I’ll be less harsh. 7th.

Fairway slopes a LOT left to right.

All the holes are challenging and if you walk the course, you’ll lose 10 pounds. Very hilly!

Speaking of weight, I’m addicted to grilled hot dogs which I won’t pass up at the turn!

I've been playing this course since I'm a kid and always enjoy my round here. And now, with the Covid guidelines in effect , Silver Lake is unquestionably the best course on SI. Course conditions are very good and pace of play is good with the 12 minute tee time intervals...even though I usually play first thing in the morning and it's always a quick round.

I don't care how good or bad anyone is but there should never be 3 holes open in front of any group. The first 3 holes are right in front of the clubhouse. When I see a group of walkers who are clearly out of shape, in long trousers, on a 90 degree day, hitting off the back tees and flubbing every other shot, someone should have said something to them once they got a full hole behind. They clearly had less golf etiquette than skill because they constantly all stood there many times forgetting who hits next and chit chatting on tee boxes and greens without a clue or care that there wasn't a soul in front of them for nearly the entire round. Bad players should bring extra balls rather than waste time constantly looking for balls. Very frustrating because one bad group can ruin a course for the rest of the day and their lagging should have been noticed with the hole and a half gap coming off the front. I'm sure groups behind us were at nearly 6 hr pace.

Very nice course, with great deals for early bird. Played the back 9 - wet conditions but course was well kept. Will definitely be coming back

Being a Staten Island resident band playing golf in NJ was common before Covid and has only increased as it took Dumbasio over 3 months to open NYC courses. Well the folks at the lake used that time wisely as the course is in excellent shape. Even then back 9 which has historical water issues was much improved. The greens were fantastic shape as were the tee boxes. The fairways were good ( a lil Dry) and the rough was freshly cut and very well kept. Truly a hidden gem and the. Conditions and on course food and beverage make it the place to play in Staten Island Small and with its fair of hackers the pace is sometimes a bit slow I did not see any rangers out on the course All in all the afternoon rate of $55 with a cart is fair deal. Get out by 3 pm and 18 holes should be a breeze !

Golf course is in phenomenal shape. Some new tee boxes and upgrades tee boxes. Greens are in great shape, except for the golfers not fixing their ball marks. Even after the rain yesterday the course wasn’t sloppy wet, a true testament to some of the work being done there.

Course was in great condition. Staff was friendly. Front 9 took 2 hours to play but back 9 took 3 hours to 4some in front of us being rookies. Outside bar set up by 1st/10th was nice and staff had masks on. This was the best I seen this course and looking forward to playing again.

Conditions on the back nine were excellent. The roughs were cut to normal and the back nine hasn't been this dry in years.

A job well done.

First round after Covid shut down course was in very nice shape. Rough was very manageable , fairways and greens well maintained.

First day open since Covid-19 so was expecting course to not be completely groomed. The rough needs some trimming. Was very hard to find ball even on decent shots. Besides that fairway conditions, tee boxes and greens were perfect. Course lay out is great. Challenging course as many holes have high or low slopes. It was the first day so once the rough gets cleaned up the course will be excellent. I will continue to play this course all summer. Just please shorten the rough a little.

Hey, I love the place and I am there at least once a week .'

As they reopened on Monday due to COVID 19 , i expected some kinks but the rough was brutal to the point you couldn't find your ball. The mosquitoes loved the rough and me.

All in all even with the back nine holes not yet cut out it was a pleasure to be back.
