About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Golfer Reviews
Great golf day at Pocono Hills
Course was in excellent shape except for a couple wet areas...greens were in excellent condition play was a little slow saw a ranger on the 4th hole after that did not see one definitely need one especially on weekends to keep things moving
Great golf day at Pocono Hills
It was 70 degrees nice and sunny but a little windy course was in excellent shape a little wet in spots from the recent rains greens were in excellent condition if you haven't played there give it a try a great value for your money
Nice course.
Very nice course. Plays very tight. Good challenge!!!
Go play
A fun course to play . Not to difficult to play. Club selection is important. I played the blues it was three over.
Great place
Walk up and your cart is ready for you when you pull into the parking lot. Good course, scoreable par 5s and fun holes
Problems with starter
We arrived at the course didn't know when making the time it was the old Fernwood course. Starter brought the cart out to the car. We were told he has a number of twosome would we mind playing with another twosome. We said we'd rather not but if we had to , we had to. We were paired with another couple. First thing I noticed they only had one bag on the cart. We get to the first tee, they tell us they had never played golf before.. They were sharing clubs. We were polite and gave them a few pointers. By the time we get to the third hole we could see behind us there were all twosomes. We decided this was not the way we wanted to play. We went back to the starter and told we we wanted a refund or we wanted to start over. We asked him why he made us pair up when there was clearly all twosomes behind us. He give us some excuse that he told the others they had to pair up but they didn't listen to him. I don't believe that for one minute. He was using us to help this couple that had never played before
. He actually put us out a half hour before our tee time. NEVER GOING BACK.
Great fun on the links
First 3 holes are perfect warm up. Simple holes before the challenge ahead.
Tees and greens in excellent condition.
A few wet spots off the fairway but nothing to complain about.
No boring holes after the warm up 3.
My foursome had a great time and we will be back.
Ps. It is aptly named for the hills. Cart path could be a little better maintained. Don’t drive recklessly.
