About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Fun course to play
Have played here 3 times now - easy to get a tee time, good pace of play, nice course and ridiculously cheap.
Very well worth a visit, the staff are very friendly and the course although not long places a premium on putting your ball in the right place.
We will definitely play here again.
Pocono Hills
I like this course and play it to improve my golf game. There are FEW challenging holes. The course is not rated so you cannot post your scores to GHIN or any handicap program. Green fees are a steal. Cart and staff are good. Weather started out cold and wet, sun came out and warmed it up. Overall a good day !
Good day
Course is in good shape. Fun holes with elevation changes. Some tight holes with some open holes Good variety. Greens were nice as we're the fairways. Great value on tee off. Play it soon the course close at the end of Nov. Great day playing a foursome let us play through. There are still good people with etiquette out there
Good course, great price.
Always enjoy playing this course. It is in good condition, especially the greens. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Price is outstanding for a weekend and pace of play was good also (4 hrs).

The course was in great shape and was an excellent value for the money. All the staff members were friendly and accommodating.
interesting course
The front 9 played fairly easy (shot a 41) but the back 9 was very difficult and challenging. Lots of hills and valleys, several blind greens, completely different. Really enjoyed the course, would like to try to play again.
1st time playing out of nj
This beautiful cheap public place puts my private country club to shame.
2nd toughest clues I played, 1st hardest greens. Perfect course. Fell in love with it. Only negatives is no putting green for practice. Other then that 10 out of 10. Awesome bar and food right after 18 too
Fun and challenging
Some holes were easy and some were challenging. Tight fairways but fun course

Played here 3 times now. Love this course cause every hole is different and its not the typical layout of a course. Awesome views and well taken care of. Staff is amazing everytime as well. Such good value for your money as well.
Good Course
Besides the power lines off some of the fairways, well maintained course. Fast & well maintained greens. Very friendly staff. Would play here again.
2 different courses in one.
The front nine holes were good. Not too difficult and not real easy. The back nine a complete opposite. Very difficult layout with some holes almost impossible to get par. Very hilly with some greens perched on top of a hill. A couple of times my approach shot was within 150 yard but trying to hit a green that was elevated 20 yards. Some holes you'd hit a nice tee shot on the fairway with no shot to the green. You need to play this course many times to figure out how to score low, if that's possible.
Great course
The course was in very nice shape. The greens were fantastic. Highly recommend!
Back night
Had a foursome in from that didn’t let my partner and I play through. The had no one in front of them and the were very very slow.
