About

Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

No Beverage Cart!?!?

Played this course today and will not play again. No drink cart in sight after 11 holes so we called the clubhouse. They told us there was no cart available today….on a Sunday in the middle of June!!! Will not play here again.

No putting green?????

Showed up at 7 am for an 8 am tee time and the place was closed. When someone finally did show up they were nasty and were just not very nice. I asked if there was a driving range or putting green and he said the putting green was a mile down the road. I just got back in my car and left.

I hope you followed up on this with a call or email to the Mgr or Club Pro, one doesn't need attitude from a disgruntled worker because they have personal or work issues, the higher up needs to emphasize that to his employees that when you work in a people facing job, they have to have a good face, if not show them the door

Great course and terrific value

We've played here a few times and are never disappointed.. The course is now on our regular rotation of courses we play and it's an interesting layout that requires thought rather than long hitting.

We came up behind two 4 balls, who were very friendly and immediately waved us through, so we went round in under 3 hours !

It's well worth a visit and hard to beat for value.
