About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Blind Shot
Course was very hilly and full of blind shots. Fairways were narrow and sloped so every drove rolled off. Greens were in great condition and true, but small

Great mid week golf
I took my son here and we had a great time. We got out early and had about a three hole gap behind us. No pressure and a beautiful day for golf.
Course is in great shape.
I've played here about a dozen times and I think this was the nicest I've seen it. Greens were immaculate. There was only one with some leaves on it but wasn't a huge deal. Only thing that didn't make me choose excellent for course conditions was the traps. It seems like the traps aren't raked daily. My buddy and I both landed in someone's footprint that was clearly days old not fresh. Other than that I have no complaints sucha fun course to play with great value.
Fatgolf
Course was in good shape and has some interesting and diverse holes. Good value for the money, however there are some slow players on the course and no marshal was present to speed up the pace of play.

Excellent course.
very good condition.
very challenging... some wide open fairways, some very narrow... couple of blind tee shots and some very sloped greens make for a fun round.
We play this course more than any.
Since ownership has changed there have been many improvements to the course. Hopefully improvements to the tee boxes is soon on the list. The surface of many of the tee boxes is "mounded" and uneven.
Also there are several areas that used to be sand traps that have not been maintained as bunkers. It would be nice if these were either put back to sand traps or maintained somehow as other than just messy areas in the fairway and near the green.
Great Round
Very competitive pricing and nice course. As a beginner it was challenging enough but not so much to make the round demoralizing.

The Green is so good condition and challenging.
I hope to play again soon. The staffs are very friendly and kind.
Greens some holes were very challenging.
I enjoyed playing the course. No called Pocono Hills for nothing. The greens very challenging. Definitely worth the cost. The course itself was a short course. With some long par 5s.
Fun round!
Course was in great shape with Friendly, Courteous staff working on improvements while we we playing.
Office and pro shop staff were eager to help and professional.
