Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Very nice course
This is a interesting layout with good fairways and nice greens. There are a few weird holes that are a real hand full to manage. Great value.
Love it every time
i cannot recommend Pocono Hills enough.
We drive up from Essex County New Jersey because we love this course.
The staff is incredibly friendly (unlike the grumps in NJ).
The course is in very good condition; it also drains well... we were stuck in a 45 minute downpour but when it cleared the conditions were fine.
Greens and fairways are in excellent condition for August and they have been moving the tee boxes so they are not too chewed up.
I really enjoy the challenges of the 4 or 5 blind holes and appreciate the mix of wide and narrow fairways.
One word of warning, don't try to walk this course... the hills will kill you.
I strongly suggest you give this course a try.
perfect hidden gem
not to long . not too difficult. pretty good conditions, nestled in the woods. greens pretty good shape.
starts off very easy then has some interesting holes.
got off early and it played superfast. some holes are hilly so i imagine in spots it can get slow.
did enjoy the round.
Golfnow.com
Was well worth the 1 hr 45 min drive. Course was great condition. Few tight holes but will definitely play there again. Staff was very friendly!!
Camping Golf
Headed down here for some camping and discovered this beautiful hidden gem - the rolling hills the challenging greens - staff and facilities were clean and friendly! Thank you for making this Covid summer trip stellar today :-)
Pocono Hills
Nice course. Greens in pretty good shape. Some very narrow fairways (5 and 15, especially). 14 is among the toughest holes to par, anywhere. No signature hole. Golf staff is very friendly.
Old Fernwood
Course was fun to play,
Pretty straight forward golfing.
Best value in the Poconos
Very impressed at the condition this course is in. Always wonder why the first tee time is 8am wasting and that morning daylight. Was told superintendent wants the extra time to keep the course in the condition it is in. Must be working because the tee box, fairway and greens are in green and lush. Staff is top notch friendly. Restaurant is only open Thursday to Sun but there was a cart person. Will return and play again.
Not worth it now
Played about 3 weeks ago and conditions and staff were extremely friendly. Not so much so yesterday..... Starter was on his last nerve, seemed like everyone/everything bothered him. Even yelled at a guy for returning a cart after his round saying he never assigned him that cart And then apologizing. Most tee box, some greens and fairway are burnt out. Just not in good shape!
Good Time all Around
We've played here several times this year and are never disappointed.
the staff is friendly and helpful, the course is in great shape and the holes are challenging.
there are several blind holes that make your drives interesting and several very thin fairways that keep you nervous and careful.
if i had to complain about anything it is that the cart paths are in bad shape.
i happily recommend this course. we will certainly return.
goofy golf
I selected somewhat challenging because of limited options. There are probably six holes on this course that I would blow up. It is an abominable resort course. I expected some blind shots and hills but when a golf cart gets hit parked on the cart path next to a tee designing a hole with a landing area (6) so close to a tee is bad planning. I get golfers will hit errant shots but this spot is too close together. It was a challenge to figure out where to hit tee shots or whether to hit less than driver on a couple holes. Definitely a course you need to play to learn how to play it, but I won't be coming back. Greens were too soft and we hadn't had that much rain in the area to cause that.
