Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Pocono Hills
This course is always in great shape. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is awesome. I recommend this course highly!!
This course is well maintained, very challenging and spectacular views.
Nice Track
This is a nice course with a challenging tight layout. Several holes had drainage issues where the ground was sponge like. The restaurant had limited hours and wasn’t open during my round so getting lunch at the turn was not an option. Off course signs advertised this restaurant as open 7 days when it wasn’t.. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Great day at Pocono Hills
The course is in great condition. Fairways and greens nicely mowed, no weeds and for October they did a good job on keeping leaves off the fairways.
Much Improved Course, Great time!
I highly recommend this course!
They clearly put a lot of money into it and most of the course is in great condition.
Many very challenging blind holes and a couple of crazy slanted greens make for an interesting round.
I hope the next area they attempt to fix are the cart paths; some are so bad you nearly lose control.
other than that, the pace of play isn't too bad (even without any visible rangers) and everyone is very friendly.
A nice first date
This course is one that you appreciate more as you get more acquainted, but playing by myself I messed up on some holes by picking the wrong target (but got lucky a few times too). The conditions were quite good, but not knowing the layout made the tight fairways and difficult greens even harder. It’s an interesting and challenging course that I hope to play again with players of like skill and experience.
Course in great shape
Course is challenging for the average golfer. Great course for the cost. The bar was closed on Wednesday
Awesome Course
Friendly staff, well kept greens, and best value for any course in the Poconos, can’t beat it. Maintenance works hard to keep the course in perfect condition. Almost feel like I should pay more to play here!! I love it.
Really different
Staff was very friendly. Course was unique with a lot of blind shots and some really tight holes. But we had a great time and the greens were excellent.
Unique layout
Course in great shape, especially greens. Very friendly staff. After first 3 relatively easy holes, becomes a true mountain course. Many severely sloped fairways and blind shots. Most greens have significant slopes and pin placement was often located there. Many narrow fairways that require less than driver. Bunkers could use some fresh sand. Overall a fun and extremely challenging course and a great value.
Very good
Very friendly staff. I lost sand wedge weeks ago at the field they kept my wedge with friendly manner. Excellent green and challenging course layout.
Scenic and challenging
Great course for those who like the outdoors. While I played it in the summer, I imagine the course to be beautiful in the fall months. It’s challenging in that some holes can’t be see from the tee box obstructed by either trees or elevation. With the help of a laser distance finder though, I shot my best round of the year.
Good Time
First time playing this course and my son, his two friends and I had a good time. Pretty good place to play.
Always a pleasure
Course was in great condition. Owners have worked very hard to get it back to a real good course. The staff continues to be unbelievably great! I cannot express enough how good it feels to drive all the way from Jersey to play there and feel welcomed with open arms! From the beautiful young lady behind the counter in the pro shop to the Wonderfull young man that was the starter. Both of these young people have always been so nice and so respectful. The owners chose the right employees. It makes it worth while to make the drive up there! Thank you folks for a great afternoon! You all rock!
Great Affordable Course
Super affordable and the restaurant next to the golf shop has decent food and is a good place to have a drink after a round. If you are a beginner like me, you will lose a lot of balls in this course. For this reason I bought cheap balls for my drives and switch them out with good balls for the short play. Apologies to the residents of this community to the left the hole 11 tee for the hellfire of cheap golf balls that rained down on your siding today.
