About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Great day of golf
We had a great day of golf, course was a little swampy on a few holes on the back nine but greens rolled very nicely. I will definitely be playing here again
Nice course with narrow fairway
You need to hit it straight. Most of the fairways are narrow. No margin for error
Great day to play. Still wet on 7,8.9,and 11. But the rest of the holes are in good shape.
Great challenging. course
Have played this course twice. The fairways and greens were in excellent conditions.
They keep the place very nice.
Need to Have a snack and beverage cart.

Excellent
The weather has been so tough since last season. Not the fault of the owners or the workers. The staff has always been excellent to me no matter when I have played there. The course was in as good of condition as it could be. No fault of the owners and staff. I drive up there from a Jersey and it has always been worth the trip. Thank you owners and staff for another great day. Much appreciated and I can’t wait to come back!! You guys rock! Again I say it is always worth the trip up there.

Greens in great shape as well as traps.
A challenging course.
Fun course
Sporty with demanding tee shots. Choosing less than driver may be the smart choice on several holes with the trade off of a longer approach to a tilted green. Great risk/ reward course
Very Nice
3rd time playing this course, the fairways were just cut, and the greens were very nice and very challenging. The pace of play was excellent due to the very light volume of other players. A couple of fairways showed some damage from the rainy weather, but most were in fine shape.
Bargin price for great golf expreience
Got a great deal for a weekend price. Staff was engaged and actually did some pace of play management. They directed a foursome playing very deliberately to allow several twosomes to play through. Quite unexpected, but welcomed. Course was wet and cart path only which they enforced as well! Having played this course previously makes it more of a challenge to improve shots on each hole. I first saw this course as unkind, but later found it to be fair.
Challenging course with great scenery
First time playing this course - the reviewers weren’t joking, short but a real challenge: narrow fairways, elevation with a few blind shots and tight doglegs. This course forces you to think. I left the driver in the bag on all but 3 holes. The course is also very well laid out with nice scenery - in short it was a pleasure to play. Can highly recommend it. Will be back.
The cart paths are a little in need of repairs - otherwise would have been 5 stars all round.
