About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Great greens
To attract more players, they will need to do a little pruning with trees, and to save the course, they will need to put up ropes in places like number 8 where carts are allowed to roam through swampland
Great vistas
Love the course, but slow play never helps in a round... especially when you’re playing alone...
Good place to play golf
Nice sunny day I was enjoying this a beautiful golf course. The course was short yardage but it wasn’t easy to save par each hole. You have to manage every single hole for saving par. It was narrow shaping course. You don’t have to use the driver every tee shot. You can use all of your clubs for maintaining your good score. Cart was new and clean. I’d like to come back and play this course again with reasonable price.

Very happy with the conditions. Holes still challenging, maybe a bit narrow for 24 handicaps like me!

Greens
Greens in best shape any course I have played so far this year
Challanging
If you can’t place your shots this course becomes very challanging. Lots of elevation changes and knowledge of the course ( or a great GPS) is a must

Course has a good layout. Pace of play was a little slow, But I would go back.
Great course for the price.
This course is the best deal in the N.Y., NJ, Eastern PA area. Using the GolfNow app I usually pay between $16-$23 for a full 18 holes with cart included. Greens are in pretty good shape but a little more leaf blowing would hurt (lost a couple balls that were easily findable if it weren’t for all the leaves. T boxes fairly well maintained and the area is peaceful. The restaurant The Warehouse , is a decent enough restaurant and a good place to get a drink after a round. This is my home course and one of my favorite in the area.
Wonderful course
My playing partner & I had a wonderful time play here. The course from tee box to greens was in fantastic shape. Could not ask for anything better. Play here & you'll see what I mean. Hope they keep it up. Highly recommend playing here.
