Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Disappointed
Imagine driving an hour after tee time was made, to then be told the back 9 was closed and it was cart path only. They were not thinking about their customers.
Course was wet so it was understandable, but please, tell me. Tight, tree line fairways with some blind holes.
I recommend sending some one up forward to track drives. I recommend only if you want to play somewhere new. I don't think I'll be back.
fernwood
staff was very friendly we had a group of 5 and had no problems
Nice course. Tricky greens
Front 9 more open and flatter . The back 9. You better stay in fairway or just drop another ball Most of the greens weren't flat so when you hit up and land on greens don't be surprised to see that you rolled right off The speed was moderate but very twisting unforgiving If you two putt your lucky
Overall a nice course good condition and fun
Blind Test
Course was in good condition. Not long at all but the greens were in very good condition and the fairways as well. Course is very tight with a lot of blind shots. Don't be afraid to drive up and lick your target.
Cant beat the price
Course was in good shape for mid August. Staff was super friendly. Fairway are tight, better have control of your driver. Some hooky holes but overall for a hot deal on a Sat, you cant complain.
Great Value
First time playing here so course management wasn't the best. Greens in very good condition although slower than I expected. Fairways and tee boxes in good shape. Several bunkers needed work. Couple of elevated greens made club choice a challenge. Overall, I had a great time and will be back.
Watch the back 9
Really good course with easy front 9 to get you pumped and then you hit the back 9 with narrow fairways and challenging greens.
Graet Value
The course is moderate to play. Not over crowed , and pace of play really good. It is one of the best courses to play for the price.
Long, tough and narrow
Hard course. Would not recommend if you have trouble keeping the ball in the fairway. But other than that, it is a beautiful course.
Old school course tight fairways consistent greens
I really liked playing this course. A lot of old growth trees over the fairways made tee shots challenging. The greens were in great shape and just fast enough without being "country club fast". There are a couple goofy holes where there is no true landing area for your tee shot but I found it challenging at every hole.
Course Management
Unless you're a low handy cap leave your driver in the bag. This course requires exacting shots using mid to short irons when approaching most pin placements.
As far as putting, the greens are in great shape with several so hard to navigate that three putting is quite common.
fun course with a lay out that will make you make acurate tee shots
got there 15 minutes late they let us go right out went out and played in 3 hrs.course was in great shape went to the bar and had a drink and a great lunch all in all a great day
Excellent Course
Don't get fooled by the course yardage. It appears short, but it's not. Strategically placed trees, doglegs, slopes and excellent greens with slopes, tiers and fairly quick. Couple "squirrely" holes but for the most part excellent layout.
I enjoyed playing this course
I have played this course several times over the years. I notices there has been several improvements to the course. Keep up the good work.
Looks easier than it looks, back 9 has excellent challanges
Course has been very well taken care of, some traps need work and are being addressed. Several difficult greens, pin placements can be difficult and angles can easily result in 3 puts. Fairways are 90% excellent and 10% good. Nice course and good food in the restaurant and bar. Friendly staff and would suggest to any skill level. VERY CHALLENGING from the blues, Seniors use the same tee box as the ladies, making it attractive to the 65+ croup. If visiting as a owner to the time share, discounts apply.
Very challenging greens
Have played this course numerous times in the past. Course is in as nice a shape as I've seen it. Fairways nicely cut, greens in great condition, some bunkers need some attention.
Staff has always been excellent. Starter needs to pair up players, too many singles going out between doubles and foursomes.
Excellent value for the money!
Only tough on last holes
Very friendly staff, several blind drives...over rises...hard to find ball if you did not hit fairway and being the first time playing I did not know the holes. Last five holes have tough greens, the slopes on the greens make them very hard, nearly laughable for a course through condos. Never seen a hole with nearly a 90 degree turn around the condo's.
Great afternoon
Fernwood was in excellent condition. Pace of play was great
Group ahead about 1 hole, behind us better than a hole
With good weather and good course, we had a blast.
