About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Golfer Reviews
getting better
they still have much work to do bunkers are full of weeds and rocks but greens are good and fairways have nice grass.
Improved
I've played this cour se for a few years now and they have made significant improvements, especially in the drainage around the 8th home.
excellent experience
Got the Tee time last minute. We drove up from Jersey and got there way early. when we went to check in the lady behind the counter was so nice and so pleasant making the long ride worth the trip before we even played. Her husband was just as great to us and just because of that i would have gone back the next day if i could have . The course was in great shape. They has a lot of nasty weather up there this winter and leading up to golf season so they did an excellent job getting it ready. We had a great day and the couple that run it made it even better and for that i thank them from the bottom of my heart and i cant wait to see them again!!
Everyone is so friendly Mark and the staff are great . I live at CCP, but play here a lot Looking forward to the new restaurant.
Good value and course in good shape
It’s a very tricky layout. Not long but you need to be accurate. Some blind holes that require local knowledge. Fairways and greens were in good shape
Only 9 holes open
Received a call from course 2 hours before tee time telling me back nine was closed will have to play front twice. When we got there could play front nine twice but number 8 was unplayable. Two other holes were also wet. Not enjoyable. Also back nine is more challenging.
Course in great shape
Course changed it’s name was Fernwood. Great course for relaxing play and improving your game. Many challenging holes but not frustrating for the average golfer.
Resort upgrade
The facility is undergoing a major remodel. The course is not affected.
less than expect
i was underwhelmed by this course. The conditions were poor. Grass was growing in the bunkers that had no grooming. No rakes available. The grass needed cutting. There was a foursome in front of us that looked like they had never played golf before. They showed no sense of hurrying along and would not wave us through. After a 2.5 hour front 9 we skipped hole 10 to get around them. There was no ranger monitoring play. I would never play here again.
Nice course, need more info on hole latout
Course was in good shape, greens had just been aerated so I can't fault for that. Not too many people playing that day, so I got out by myself and finished in 2.5 hours. Lots of hidden holes especially on the back side. Lost a couple balls from not knowing where hole was going. Maybe a layout guide for sale would help here, no map of course on scorecard.
Oct 2017
The course had 9 holes closed and that was not communicated when we booked the tee time.
There were no rangers and we were put behind a twosome that took >30 minutes to play hole #10.....we ended up driving around them (plenty of space between them and the group in from of them.
In addition the greens had been severely spiked (aerated) with little to no fillin of the holes, so puts were ridiculously not true.
