About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Challenging
Coarse was in pretty good shape after the first 2 holes
Very challenging greens some to fast LOL
Was worth the money We had fun
Beautiful day for golf
The greens were a little slower than normal, but that played to the players advantage especially on greens 4 & 14 where a down hill putting usually wandered off the green. Now that the leaves are falling, a little more care to blow playing surfaces would be appreciated.
Sad news is, the bar & resturant aren't open till 4pm. New fall & winter hours I guess.
Quirky course with some blind shots and elevated greens. Several fairways narrow in the middle. Many greens are severely sloped with tough pin placements. Maintenance is surprisingly good, especially on greens. A good value

The tee boxes were a little hard. But other than that everything was perfect!! Wish they sold Logo Balls in the gift shop.
What a great day and plan on playing again in the near future!!!
Slow Play
Course is in beautiful shape. Several foursomes were very slow. Had to skip a hole, and only got 14 holes played. This was the second time we only got 14 holes played.
Beautiful day for golf.
Greens, fairways, and ruff, in great shape. Stand traps could use some work, some are grassed over. If your not in them it doesn't matter. Narrow fairways, so beware grip it and rip it golfers.

Enjoy playing this course, but the restaurant is too expensive.

Fair ways and greens in great shape. The sand traps could use some work, but if you're not in them it doesn't matter. You can't beat the price and speed of play.
Weekday round
Golfed on Tuesday, 9/10. Course was in great shape and not crowded so pace of play was great. Not a terribly long course and not terribly difficult so it makes for a very enjoyable round for an average golfer.
Pace of Play getting bad
We love this course, but it really, really needs some rangers to get the slower players moving.
We followed a slow 4-some that was behind a slow group of 5!
