Worcester
Course is under new management and they are working on it. This is my honest review. Driving range is small and Irons only. Fairways and ruff were a little under average condition but my biggest gripe is with the greens. I believe 7 or 8 of the 9 holes had very small domed greens. I think the architect thought he was Donald Ross but with half a green to work with! Very difficult to stop and hold from a distance. The putting surface was slow and bumpy. Definitely need work to get them smooth and faster. Out of bounds is close on the left of first 3 holes. Played from the back tees. One par 3 was hard to find the back tee. Turns out it's down near the landing area of the driving range. 7th hole has a water hazard that cuts into the fairway in front of the green. You can't see it from 200 yards out. Hit a perfect rescue wood down the middle at the flag only to find it rolled downhill left into the pond short of the green. For $10.00 plus Golf Now fee's it's OK but I don't think I'll be back.
Great value
Fun course. Great value and good for beginners as well.
A six-some???
Went on a Sunday afternoon for a 3:00 tee time. First few holes were fine, then pace of play basically stopped. It turned out to be a six-some a few groups ahead. Yes you read that correctly - a six-some. I have never seen that in all my years playing golf. Absolutely ignorant on their part. Poor etiquette and just a basic disregard for other people. I'll go back for the value and proximity to home, but a six-some is just ridiculous.
Nice 9 hole course.
Was exactly what we were looking for in a 9 hole course. Well maintained and not crowded.
Restoration
This courses new owners have done an excellent job in restoring it to its original conditions. They have hired knowledgeable people in the course management field.
The previous owners had let the course deteriorate to the point of unplayable. It now is back to great condition! Look forward to returning.
Great course
My buddy and I have been playing this course for a few years. We love it. It's not a PGA championship course but so what? It's challenging but forgiving at the same time. It's a great way to get a quick 9 holes in for a great price. The club house is nice for a quick bite with the new owners. They are very friendly.
I highly recommend this course for golfers of all abilities.
Best Course Around!
We loved golfing here with conditions being perfect and staff friendly and attentive, we will be back very soon!
Quick, fun round of 9 holes
Enjoyed my experience playing and will return. The value is great for the course.
Good Practice Course
This course has it's challenges. However, for a public course it's well maintained and you can play at your own pace. You can play a practice shot and/or provisional without a ranger harassing you.
just no good.
just no good.when we go there without booking tee time they charge $18.00 for 18 holes. i book a tee time throu on line hot deal payed $9.00 something in advance (this is not refundable). when i was there played 9 holes staff came out and stoped me asking more money $7.00. what a embarrassing it is.
gimmic
this courses regular price(9hole 2times) is $18.00. They post tee time on internet hot deal for $9.00(saying 60% off) when i pay $9.00 +internet fee in advance via internet and then go to the course thinking i save some money by booking on line...when i play 9 holes staff came out and saying i should pay $7.00 more to play 9 more holes. what a gimmic it is.Regular price is $18.00 to 60%discounted price is$17.00.ha ha ha...
Worcester Golf Club here, our actual "course regular price" is currently $23 with a cart and is only ever for 9 holes. At this time we offer a $7 replay of those same 9 holes for customers who wish to continue playing. When you purchase the Hot Deal through GolfNow, you paying a special price set by GolfNow and those prices do not reflect what actual course prices are. To view actual course pricing, please visit our website.
Your paying for 9 holes on Golfnow, its $7.00 additional for the second 9 holes, with fees its still under $20.00 for 18 holes with a cart
Open but Challenging
I started playing golf earlier this summer and found this course quickly. For a beginner the course has been forgiving at times and has allowed me to keep the fire burning. Worcester has its share of open long holes that force you to have a game plan. Two par 3s also make you work for the short game successes. The course is kept in great shape and staff is very friendly. I plan to play this course for years to come.
Won't be going back
Adam and team are great, but the course clientele has caused me to stop going after about 20 rounds over the last two years. Was playing today, and not only is it incredibly slow, but the fact is that no rangers or course management exists. Case in point, played today walking nine holes, and by the third hole had a guy behind me who hit into me no less than five times on three holes. When confronted, it was the typical no English response. The twosome in front of me was keeping pace, and there was no where to let the guy play through. By the third time, I called the clubhouse as no rangers are on this course. They sent a guy around, but didn't stop to talk to the offender, and just drove around on a golf cart. I teed off on hole five, and as I was walking to my ball had another one hit 20 feet from me. I just walked off of the course at this point, and told the clubhouse in person. There is a policy of no refunds, I wasn't even going to try to get one. As I left, I saw kids waiting to play the course, after what I just saw, I wouldn't bring a kid anywhere near this course. They need rangers, and they need their customers to understand the rules of golf etiquette. Unfortunately for me I'll play center square or skippack rather than returning to worcester.
Worcester Golf Club here, and we are sincerely sorry to hear this type of issue. In the coming 2015 season, we will be regulating the course more with the help of a starter and ranger. If you are willing, we would like you to give the course another chance and let us know if conditions improve with our changes. As for that specific golfer you mentioned, he was given one warning and then he was escorted off the course after our superintendent saw continued disregard for etiquette and the safety of other golfers such as yourself. Again we apologize for the actions of others and hope to see you in the future. -Adam
They are working, plugging, the greens
Nice course, close, not too difficult. The greens were just plugged so putting was tough. Love to play there.
Interesting course
Purchased as a hot deal so price was right at 9 bucks for 9 holes with a cart. Interesting design and not a bad course. Map of course needs to be much bigger and clearer. Up keep was ok could be better. But was a fun 9 holes
First trip won't be last
Had a fun time playing 9 holes. My wife and I are fairly novice, but had a great time on the course. It was well taken care of, had great friendly staff and was a good price. Will be back!
Get what ya pay for
If you want to golf regularly within a budget this course presents a viable option. But you get what you pay for.
ZERO monitoring of tee "times." Nobody monitors when groups tee off at the first hole, which always leads to insanely long back-ups.
Carts are limited. They may even run out on the weekend, despite you booking a tee time as a rider over a week in advance.
Great Little Course
A wonderful course to sharpen your game. Not very difficult but layout is just enough to make to think about your shots. Great course if you don't have the whole day to spend golfing.
Will surely play it again
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Worcester Golf Club here, it looks like you were mistaken about the course details when you booked your tee time online. As we are a 9 hole course, we only ever advertise 9 hole tee times. "Hot Deals" are owned by Golf Now so they regulate their own pricing. Our own course rates, and what times our rates apply, are fully view-able on our website.
