The Club at Shannondell

About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Great First Experience
Our first time playing the course and it was in excellent condition. Rough was very thick putting a premium on being in the fairway. Course plays longer than the listed yardage in part because of the number of dogleg holes which might be off-putting for some. Friendly staff. Good value for the money. Not sure how the course manages leaf pick-up which might be a problem later in the fall.
Club at Shannondell
While the course itself was in excellent condition, I don’t believe I could recommend it to friends, as it was not my cup of tea. It was my first time there and it started on the wrong foot, and never really recovered. They don’t have a range for warm up. I’m sure they must have had a putting green, but I didn’t see that, either. The pace of play, for an under 6000 yard course was 4:20, which I guess has become the standard for weekends, but it too played a factor in my rating. The other deciding factor was the fact that at any given time, your cart was ‘in play’ from multiple tee boxes I multiple directions. Overall, greens were rolling pretty true and the rough was just that, rough. I would have expected a course of this nature to cost around $50-$55, not the $72 we were charged online.
Good was in good shape
Enjoyed the course , was well kept for the most part.
Starter was rude though. Other wise I enjoyed the day.
