About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2020.
Located just south of Allentown, Pa., Locust Valley Golf Course is less than hour from Philadelphia and the Poconos and only 15 minutes from the New Jersey border. The course is player friendly enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence but there are a few challenges in store as well. The 6,504-yard layout is a manageable length but there are still a few holes that will test your distance. The terrain is mostly flat though there are a few subtle contours that can be tricky. The fairways have a lot of variation with some that are wide and forgiving and others that are tighter and demand greater accuracy. You'll also have to watch out for the occasional water hazard. Locust Valley is not the most challenging golf course in the area, but it's one of the best values you'll find in town.

The course was in good shape for this time of year.
Fun Course
Tess Fairways Greens in pretty good shape. Bunkers and roads go in some spots need some work. I play Locust Valley a few times a year. Never disappointed.
Would have been nice if someone showed up.
I booked this round almost 2 weeks prior. I had played the course the sunday, a week prior and as always had a great time, although the play was exceptionally slow. I had a time set up for Monday the 7th @ 7:16AM. I arrived at the course 10 minutes prior to my tee time and the clubhouse was dark. I ended up staying tll 7:40AM before, after no one showing up, picking my clubs up and leaving. Luck had it that a nearby course was able to get me out as a walk on, so the day was not a complete bust. I hear the course may be closing, but while still in operation I feel it should be operated under normal structure.
Locust valley 9/20
Good course. Will be sorry to see it go at end of season.
Locust Valley
Conditions not too bad. Clearly not spending any $$ on maintenance given that it is supposed to be the last year for this course. Appears to have perc holes dug at many locations so I believe this really will be the last year for them. Too bad it was always a nice course and kept in good shape. It will be missed.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give Locust Valley Golf Club another try in the near future.
Locust Valley
Course was in decent shape except for the bunkers which need real sand. Course got nicer after the first few holes. Probably a good place to walk - cart not necessary for those who enjoy getting some exercise.

Seen better days
Great layout and usually in good to decent shape. Not sure if the weather has been a factor with course upkeep but weeds and unkept landscaping, even around the pro shop building, tells me the property is on the decline. Almost every bunker was washed out and need to be reworked. Greens were dreadfully slow and many require significant work to get up to standards. It’s sad to see courses like this go on the decline.
Hi, md3265. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recovery the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We are glad to see you rated the rest of your visit to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Locust Valley Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
They don’t care!
This course will be closing on October 14, 2019. This land will become a space to build homes. So, the maintenance has been completely non existent. The traps has standing water from a week ago. The greens have not been cut. The gras on the greens are about 1/2 inch long. The rough is worse & has clover leaves growing.
Please don’t waste your money unless you want to have a round to remember as a keepsake memory!
Hi u000003417163. Thank you for taking the time to review the course. We take single star feedback very serious at our course. You are welcome to comment further or reach out to our team in the golf shop. We always appreciate the feedback. Thank you for playing Locust Valley Golf Club.
Good course. Enjoyed playing. Would not mind play8ng again
Except for pace of play everything else was good. It took almost 5 hrs
There was no started and enough gap between golfers on 1st hole. There’s were 4 teams on the 1st hole waiting to tee off. Course conditions were good. Would not mind playing again
Hi weeyamgolf! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Classic Old Style Course
This Course is a gem. Once a Private Club, now Public, it has all the nuances of an Old Style Club with respect to the Course. Tough, tree lined Fairways at times, to subtle Green slopes and difficulties, to scenic views ... this Course does not disappoint.
New Mgmt has greens and bunkers back in shape ...compared to 15 yrs ago ... and it only makes this track better ! Once overgrown, the Greens now are classic Northeast Golf style .....grainy and with movement you can't see ...unless you're looking for it.
If you are looking for a new Course to try, this is definitely it !! Rumors of closing have been in place for 10 yrs .... and with any luck, the right Mgmt will help this Gem remain for years to come !!
