Challenging off the tees
Many challenging tee shots for a course not carved out of the trees. With the power line tower on Hole #1 fairway, it made me think this was a Micky Mouse course. Not so. Misses off the tee are costly. Hilly terrain causes awkward stances.
We've had weeks of rain lately, but greens still surprisingly hard. Clumps of grass on fairways and rough, but I'll cut them som slack because of the wet spring weather.
Grass
Cut grass piled everywhere hard to find balls
I understand with all th rain the mowing got behind. Just need to get it picked up. Was at two other courses this week and they did not have this issue.
Visit the competition and see what they are doing your not.
some changes
New management is starting to make some changes, some good, some bad. Bunkers are badly neglected. Nice to see rough. Greens were hard, but that is expected this time of year. like the course, its design and the value.
ignore common sense and follow rigid rules
our weekly senior 4-some bought golfnow hot deal for 1:30 tee-time, and then later we had request by one person in our group to go out a bit earlier. so, we arrive early at noon-time, knowing that the course will not be busy. we were ask to wait until 1:30 or to re-book to an earlier time (over double the initial cost). in the time we waited, we saw very few golfers tee-off. my opinion, poor customer service. i think a stern warning and a one time exception would have been the way to go. lesson learned.
also, whilst waiting, we recalled several other instances over the years where we needed to arrive either early or late, and had no problems at courses other than this one. my bad for not calling the pro-shop asap, as i normally would. i wonder if we were late to our tee-time, if we would have to pay again...
ignore common sense and follow rigid rules...
Parline
Great value for the money
1st round of the seaaon
Have golfed this course a few times and it's a great value. You can bring your own beverages, the staff is super & will work with you if you're running late, etc. I really like this course.
Fair price
New ownership turning it around
This course is making a nice "comeback."
I've always liked the layout of this course. It has some interesting dog-legs and some tricky hazards to contend with. Since the new management company (the same guys who manage Royal Oaks & Monroe Valley) has taken over, there are visible improvements to the fairways, tee boxes, and greens. Nice fast rolling greens. This course is a good value for the money. My one major criticism of the course is NO SAND in any of the bunkers...just weeds growing in mud. Although I'll be back because the price is right, it would be nice to continue with your improvements and hopefully sand in the bunkers is not too far off.
Fall maintenance/pushy golfers
All the fairways just had been plugged. I get that, but discount the rate. Bunkers were poor, rough was long. It looked like fall arrived and they laid off the grounds crew. As far as pace of play, we teed off with the group coming off the green never pushed them, but got pushed. By a 2 some, we folded our round as a 2 some in just over 3 hours!!! No reason for them to hit on to us like they had.
improved
Will never be considered outstanding since it is an amateur design with a few bad holes. Refused to play there for a number if years since course conditions were poor. Things are better. Greens were pretty good. Tee boxes were terrible but it is dirt cheap so you can't have everything.
Greens in Very Nice Shape!
After two months of drought conditions in central Pa, it amazing that the course was in OK shape. The fairways were dormant in places, but the greens were in excellent shape...I mean really good. This area of the state has had little too no rain in the past two months. Add to that record heat...I just sayin', it's hard to be critical of any golf course, given the more than challenging weather conditions. Great value and nice staff.
Great price on a hot deal only!
For $10 it was worth going. Too much of it is in rough shape as they need to water more and take better care of the green. On one hole that I believe was a par 3, it looked like someone drove a cart right over the green and did major damage.
There is some kind of fungus on one or two of the other greens. Also, this whole region of PA is suffering from drought and all but the nicest and most expensive courses are showing it.
Par line - lacking staff
Have played par line 4 times since April. It's a course of average condition; greens are bumpy and rough isn't always well kept. On two occasions now there has been extremely slow play that the pro shop has been unable to address due to lack of staff. Apparently they only have one staff member even on weekends, so they are never able to send anybody out to make sure pace of play stays where it needs to be or to address a particular group that is holding everything up. Also had an issue with a broken down cart which we were told to leave in the fairway and have our other group drive us back for a new cart. If you can grab a round here for $15-20 on golfnow it's worth a play, but I would never pay the course standard rate of $35; just not worth it.
Par line golf
Pace of play was extremely slow. No Rangers on the course to keep up play. Greens were to soft even though we have not had a lot of rain. Fairways were also in terribke shape.
Better, but not best.
I have played this golf course for the part 10 years. Feinstein making some improvement, but still has a long way to go to be equal to several other area courses.
Greens are in fairly good shape. Hopefully current management will bring it back to what out once was.
I will say it is much more enjoyable to play since several tees have been moved forward.
Par Line GC
Some of the tee boxes were in need of fixing, but course was in very good overall shape. Rate of play was good until the start of the back 9 when a few larger groups slowed play down, but i understand this sometimes happens. I would recommend this to friends or anyone who wants to play as I frequent the course myself. The price is definitely a great deal for a nice looking and longer course. It's also a nice bonus when I get on my golf now app and see discounted prices for afternoon times when I would normally play anyway.
Great layout, needs some work, great potental.
Some fairways need extra attention. All tee boxes need work. Greens were large and well maintained. Most ball washers were empty. Little thing like this indicates bad management. Clubhouse needs attention especially the bath room. Food was good but needs beer. Waterfall at entrance needs overhauled. Course overall was fun to play and has great potential.
Nice layout
Not a hard course but has a few difficult holes. Not many hazards or bunkers. Number 9 very difficult par 5.
challenging
1st hole, right off the bat. working your way around the tower. tee box's are in good shape along w/the rest of the course. my friends and I discovered this course just this year. we've been back 6-7 times and will continue to come back. love it.
Steve
problem areas
Too many waste areas for senior golfers to carry.
Rough was too high. hard time finding balls hit a few feet off fairway.
