Love this course but...
I live an hour away but dont mind the drive to play Berkliegh. The course conditions were very good with the exception of the greens still recovering from aeration but that isnt the fault of the course.
Here is my critical feedback -
The bunkers lack consistency. One is fluffy and the next is concrete, they should not vary as much as they do.
Pace of play can be really frustrating and having a marshall on the course would help dramatically. There is a sign in the cart that says if the hole in front of you is open you have to speed up play or skip a hole. That is not unique to just this course, that is etiquette everywhere but it is rare that we are not held up repeatedly waiting for golfers with no one in front of them and are not offered to play through. I have played here for at least the last 10 years and have never seen a marshall on the course. Especially needed on a weekend, help us out please!
We were a high handicap foursome behind a threesome and simply should not have had to wait on 90% of our shots, if they could make a dent in the pace of play this would go to a 4.5 star rating
Pro shop
Just moved here to PA . Asked golf pro if there were any mens leagues he said there are none there . After round got coffee at bar very nice people working there and the person said there are men leagues.went to pro shop asked about membership and he said there are no memberships available for next couple of years .golf pro was rude to me and just wanted me out of there.everyone else were very nice and pleasant from starter to workers. Guessing they don’t want new people but very nice course!great condition

What’s the distance?
Great bones and greens in good condition especially for late November. . Old school/classic layout, but no yardage markers or plantings to give you a clue of distances. 100/150/200 yards anyone?
Very Enjoyable
The course was fun to play. The fairways and greens were in good shape. The price was very reasonable. It is neat the end of the season, sho ball washers were put away. There were plenty of leaves on the ground, but that's fall. There were some areas that needed ground repair and the cart paths need attention, but this is true about a lot of courses. All in all, it made for an enjoyable afternoon round.
Conditions and attitude
I have played Berkleigh many times, but yesterday was appalling. The rough is so high that it is unenjoyable for the average weekend golfer. In addition to that, they have done next to nothing to remove leaves, and we lost balls only a few feet into the rough. On top of all that the course ranger asked us to pick up our pace of play. Totally inappropriate with the conditions. We had a 2 tee time gap with the group in front, which was never considered, and we would have been happy to play faster, but the conditions settled that. Our group will not go back anytime soon. Not worth the price and hassle.

Berkleigh Golf Club
Some Tee boxes were rough, to say he least- biggest problem was slow pace! There were just two of us and it took four and half hours. The foursome in front of us talked mire then they played, didn’t understand concept of ready golf , only saw a marshall once and complained, will not be back, too many other decent courses in our area

Will Play Again, and Again
Great layout that challenges long and shorter hitters. Wide fairways provide amble room for those that hit a bit askew., but the they are challenged by the bunkers that flank most greens. Sand traps definitely need some work as Ida’s rath was evident. But for the twosome two groups ahead that couldn’t hit a ball straight, and the mixed foursome in front of us that played from three tee boxes, our 4.5+ hour round was a joy. This was my fourth time visiting Berkleigh, second time with my wife, and I will return again and again.
Nice course
Very wet, and conditions were so-so. Tee boxes were muddy, some really bad cart paths. Fairways were cut nice, rough was high, but to be expected, since IDA came through. New club house is beautiful.
Golf course was nice but past prime, staff was poor
I was here a day or two after a big storm so water was on the course which was expected. The staff was unfriendly at best and pushing for a faster pace of play while we were waiting on multiple people in front of us. The course looked like it was really nice a while ago and had a nice layout. In particular the course ranger was almost aggressive and rude and the off course amenities were poor or not at all for the price being similar to that of a top course. The greens were nice even after the storm and overall it was still beautiful.
