Golden Oaks Golf Club

Beautiful course. Very fair for all skill levels. Not many marks on the course anywhere.. Experience was everything i was hoping it would be

The only thing holding back an otherwise amazing course is the lack of bunker maintenance. Most bunkers are full of large rocks and have never been raked by staff, but why bother there’s not much sand to rake. Compared to courses asking comparable prices these are among the worst bunkers in the area.

It’s 75 miles from my house. That being said, I will DEFINITELY be back this season.

I have played the other course near here that has a similar name. Also a nice place, but I didn’t like so many obvious areas that use to be bunkers. Golden Oaks didn’t appear to have any of them. ( at least I don’t recall any)

Took the ride for a 6:50 am tee time. Was going to be well over 100 degrees that day , so wanted to start as early as possible. Was set up with 3 other first time players to the course. Everything was marked well to be able to get around. Played black tees at 6100+ yards. I believe the tips are at or over 7000!

I played 24 hours ago as of the time of this review. I can remember a scant few areas of issue with the course. A tee box or two were not too flat.One green did have an area that was just a sand hole, not more then 2 feet wide and very far from the actual hole itself.I loved the American Flag flags for the holiday, and the hooks just off every green to give the respect our flag deserves by NOT placing it on the ground. Room under trees to find airent shots. Nice elevation changes thru out the course. Big greens with not a lot of flat putts to find. They rolled quite nicely. Some parallel fairways. Few dog legs. Couple real nice risk/reward opportunities made it more exciting.

Playing so early, it was just 70 minutes for me to get there. I’m excited to make that drive again sooner than later. I can only hope to bring a friend up to share this great course.

Course was fun and in good shape, but the greens desperately needed to be watered. Didn’t know I was signing up to play a US Open level course.

Have been playing here off and on for 30 years. Conditionhas deteriorated. Bathrooms disgusting and near dysfunctional. Clearly a lack of management attention and/ot no money to keep up in approprate shape.

Love the layout and pub and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The conditions were not up to their usual standards with a lot of weeds in the rough and very little sand in the bunkers, but still very playable. Pace of play seemed slow during the round but was actually not terrible (about 4:20). Food and beer great as always.

Paid a modest few extra dollars to extend a twilight nine holes into 'as many as can be played before dark'. In this case cart curfew was set to 8:30. That was quite reasonable versus the curfews recently given to me by other courses nearby. I don't think I'd still be able to see the ball ant 8:30, but the flexibility was appreciated.

Conditions are great on the fairways and greens, in particular. The green roll at a good speed and your putts will hold the lines you put them on.

I've generally found Golden Oaks to have better sand in their traps than other public course in Berks County, but the two traps I found myself in (on holes 12 and 13 were "Berks County Grade Hardpack")

The course layout is 5 star. Bunkers were well groomed but very little sand. A few tee boxes need help.
