Middletown Country Club
About
Middletown Country Club has been one of Bucks County's major golfing destinations for more than a century. Originally designed as a nine-hole golf course in 1913 by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay, the second nine was added three years later. In the many years since opening, the golf course has undergone renovations by both George Fazio and Stephen Kay. This tough course is proof that a layout doesn't have to be 7,500-plus yards to be a challenge. Although the Middletown C.C. golf course plays to a seemingly modest yardage of 6,217 from the back tees, the rolling terrain provided by its location in the scenic Neshaminy Valley makes the course seem much longer. The small greens have plenty of undulations and you'll also be faced with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. There are also towering trees looming above the fairways and water comes into play throughout the golf course as well.

fast greens
1st time here and it was as hilly of a golf course as I've ever played. Greens were very nice except for 2, which they have done work on. those 2 were ok. The others were great. A few blind tee shots. The course is not sprawled out, we had some incoming balls from other fairways a couple of times. The back 9 has at least 2 short par 4's that cause a backup because they almost play as long par 3's. Other than that, it was pretty nice.
Never again
Greens under repair, rock hard tee boxes and fairways. Unraked bunkers. No scorecards. No signage directing you to the next hole, poorly marked 100,150 and 200 yard markers. With all the down time I was expecting a course in primo condition. Sad
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We understand your frustration with the construction projects underway. Please bear with us as we work diligently to make improvements. We hope you'll give us another try in the future. Thanks for choosing Middletown Country Club.

Never again
First and last time. Booked a 4pm tee time, and upon arrival to the pro shop the woman inside told me they had squeezed in a “VIP group” but she was “authorized” to send out 5-somes and I would join the next foursome. While other states and areas are sticking to strict regulations regarding group sizes and tee times, this place apparently does whatever they want. The starter felt the need to chime in and chirp everyone for their tee shots. He had mentioned that the course was in great shape but I’m not quite sure what the frame of reference was. There were two holes with temporary greens which were really just the end of the fairway with a spray painted circle around a huge hole with a flag in it. Overall the greens were either fair or they had horribly cut out square patches. Tee boxes were EXTREMELY beat up. Overall just an extremely slow and unenjoyable round at this “country club.”
In regards to the reviews recently posted, Middletown Country Club has been following any and all guidance from the Pennsylvania Allied Golf Associations regarding social distancing and proper health measures set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Middletown does not, and will not, “triple book”, as was mentioned in one review. In fact, we instituted a policy of blocking every third tee time so that proper tee intervals are met. Our “normal” tee times are set every nine minutes, while we are now running at the mandated twelve minute time. A starter will not let the group on #1 tee hit their first tee shot until the group ahead has reached the first green on the nearly 400-yard hole.
Also, the “VIP” group that was mentioned was actually a group that had booked online and inadvertently booked on the wrong day and traveled quite a distance to arrive. As far as a five some playing, I am not aware of any fivesomes playing on any day mentioned. There were several groups that booked with five players, a three some and a twosome. They were all told that they COULD not play together on the tee. Without the ability to have a “ranger” with our mandated staff limitations, this may have occurred on the course after a few holes. We will certainly pay attention to this as we do not want anyone having an issue.
As far as pace of play is concerned, during the past two weeks since our return to play, our pace has been very good considering that most of our players have not played in almost eight weeks. Average rounds have been in the 3:40-4:15 range. We know this by the fact that we have had little issues getting carts back off the course, properly cleaned and disinfected, and ready for play. If there were issues with long rounds, we would have experienced numerous tee times waiting for carts to come off the course. This has not happened so far.
As far as the golf course is concerned, we are preparing to open our two new greens this weekend. We were on track to open these earlier before our shutdown set us back several weeks. We are very excited about these. The golf course is in great shape coming out of our shutdown and getting even better.
We want to thank all of our golfers that have been following the protocols during this unprecedented time-wearing masks in the parking lots and check in, keeping their space, following the mandated “x”s during check in, checking in no earlier than 15 minutes prior to tee time, calling ahead to prepay, or one player paying for the entire group. We realize this is a sacrifice and a challenge for everyone involved, including our team. We will all get through together and a return to our “normal” golfing lives will hopefully be on the horizon.
Golf review
I was looking forward to this course but will never go back. From the start I should of known just to turn around. They triple booked the times and it took me 5 hours to golf. It took so long the pace was not enjoyable and very frustrating. They even let a group of 5 play together. It was backed up on every single hole and social distancing was not a thing at this course at all.

Nice greens, good playability
The course had surprisingly quick greens that were in excellent shape. Mild difficulty as it is not very long or narrow off the tee. Plenty of opportunities to post a low score. The pace of play was average and we did not have an unreasonable wait to tee off. I would play here again as the price is a good value compared to other courses of much less quality.

Making progress/Hot deal
I have been playing Middletown for over 4 years now. For a while I stayed away from this course, but since it’s close and convenient to get a round in when I can I jump on hot deals here. Got on today for 18 bucks can’t beat that for 18 holes plus a cart. They’re doing some great things with the course. Changing the greens on 11 and 13 I’m looking forward to giving this course more chances in the future. Keep up the work guys

We know that the weather this "winter" has not been even close to normal, but this year we have undertaken the complete renovation of greens on Holes #11 and #13. This was done with the assistance of Middletown Township. The sod from the old greens was used to sod tees on # 6 and 16 as well as a spot on #3's green and #9's approach. Nothing was wasted. Winter months are typically when courses do renovation, tree removal, etc. We are extremely excited for the two new greens coming on line later this spring, 75 new carts coming next month, and a "part time" driving range being created as well. Cart path work is being analyzed as well.
Great local course
There was a frost delay (can’t fight Mother Nature) but the regulars ( about 20 of them, mostly walkers, that had tee times before us) NEVER had us waiting on ANY tee boxes. Pace of play was fantastic. Course dries faster than any other in the area. (We just had a few inches of rain the day before.
Cons about the course: wish they had a driving range instead of 2 driving nets. Also the “snack shack” was closed. Again, it is winter, so it was expected.
This is my go to course when my course is not playable due to wetness.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Middletown Country Club thanks you!
Frozen tundra
Due to weather, frost delay and waited over an hour. Ground very wet but playable and greens were thawed out. All in all it was good to be able to swing and play a little bit of golf. Weather wasn’t bad and hardly anybody was on the course.
Hi Larry! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE
seriously.. read the reviews before you book. when you REALLY read the reviews of the complaints here you realize there are negative experiences here. mine was that a dude mowing the lawn SCREAMED and literally cursed me out for not hitting my tee shot when I was waiting for golfers 200 yards in front of me (in my driving range) to get out of the way. the amount of disresect you receive here is unbelievable. got a dude ready to box and throw hands honestly..

Frozen tundra
Picked this course since it was close to home and a decent time, closer to 10 am. When I arrived there was a freeze delay. Didn’t get off till 10 am and that was the other golfers that had earlier tee times. Needless to say it was slow playing and lot of waiting. Decent layout but have played it before. Greens were in decent shape. Course needs some TLC. Broken branches and potholes everywhere. Good bar and decent food. Staff very courteous and friendly.

4 holes closed on the back 9 no communication from the guy at the pro shop paid full price pretty crappy if you ask me.

Old school
Old school course. Tight, hilly, small greens. Course in good shape and greens fast. These greens were not designed for today's green speeds. Too many unnecessary trees.
